Great food and service in a clean local establishment. Staff was great and so was the food. This was a great little diner. It is very close to the Apostle Island Boat Tours on Lake Superior. It is close to hotels and really easy to find using Google Maps. There is plenty of free street parking. We would definitely try this again.

It’s what it is. Ok-po-dunk small town pleasures. Atmosphere not so much. Couple craft beers on tap a bonus. Tater tots for the win. Burgers are pretty good. Pinball is a nice touch.

Stopped for dinner and stumbled into this welcoming, very clean, and friendly bar. The food was good and the pork sandwich was amazing! If your in Ashland or driving through you should make a stop!

Nice little hole in the wall type of place. Much more spacious inside than it appears on the outside. Our bartender was friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. We grabbed a drink and wolfed down cheese curds as an app and I had the fish tacos as an entrée. Be forewarned, they do have a ranch sauce drizzled on top (I wasn’t aware initially) but I scraped it off and really enjoyed the rest of my meal. Also be aware Packer games don’t come on if the Vikings are on so… lame, lol!

Loved this place. Great reuben, great margarita. Classic hits playing. Sparkling clean, all COVID-19 precautions in place. I was going to give it a miss, but for the judgy reviewer who wrote that it was “a place he would never go.” Now I have to try it. As a solo woman traveler, I felt completely safe here. There are pool tables, jukeboxes, and old salts at the north end of the bar, but it’s all very Prairie Home Companion. If you’re looking for the House of the Rising Sun, I think you’ll have to drive about six hours closer to Detroit.

I placed an order for take out, and omg it was amazing! We got ribs and the brisket both with side. The brisket was TO DIE FOR!!!!! I do not live anywhere close but was staying in my cabin about 2 hours away – it was well worth the drive!!!! So happy that I found this place before we came all the way back home! Only down side was they were out of corn bread. Other than that the food was amazing and for the short time I was in the bar waiting for my take out order the staff was very friendly. Thank you a great experience, you have return customers here next time I am up from the twin cities!!

I do not blame the staff working tonight. They had one guy tending the bar, taking food orders, closing tabs, and bringing food out. One guy! It’s a Sunday and not many places are open, if you’re going to be open why only have one person!? Guests were having to clean tables themselves because he didn’t have time to do that.
Ribs were incredible. Fries were good. Cornbread was dry. Multiple items on menu were out. But overall I believe if they had proper staffing the food would have been even better.
This place could be special but it’s lacking under customer service.

Certainly the best meats in town. We had the brisket (with baked beans, apple slaw, and cornbread) and the Cuban sandwich with fries. It was all _delicious_. Loved the dispensers of homemade sauces. As a recovering vegetarian, I appreciate the vegetarian options on the menu–it’s sometimes hard to find good vegetarian food in the north woods. I also enjoy the inclusive atmosphere–we were there about 7 p.m. on a Friday and there were families with young kids, as well as old people (like me), and college-aged people.

This is the perfect example of a hole in the wall, and it’s got the BEST food. Usually with bars it’s hit or miss with bar food, but this food was top notch. We were a party of 9, and got a variety of food from salads to poutine. All of it was fantastic. The cheese curds were the best in town, and the French fries were comparable to the MN state fair. If you’re looking for a great atmosphere, great food and great staff, check out this bar!

Best burger I’ve had in town. It was very simple, just a bacon cheeseburger, but it was seasoned perfectly, and cooked perfectly to medium. You could tell it wasn’t smashed down because it was plenty juicy, and the cheese was fully melted. All things that make a simple burger a great one! Highly recommend!
