I’m not sure how long they’ve been open or who is in charge of everything but something needs to change. It was supposed to be date night and it was closer than any other place; plus it was somewhere new. It started off good enough and then after putting in our appetizer it took them about 20-30 minutes for nachos. It doesn’t take that long for said appetizer nor should it taste stale and dry like it was sitting out just waiting. We decided to just take our food home to finish eating but even when that came out it didn’t look appetizing. We both got salad which was the only good part of the meal. I’ll let the photo speak for itself about the entree. Honestly is not worth anything if they can’t do better than this when there wasn’t anyone there to serve.

Service was great, but the place still needs a lot of help.
The women’s restroom needs a complete remodel, it’s very shopworn which makes it look dirty, but still was mostly clean. The stall latch was rusty, lots of holes in the walls where fixtures were changed and moved. The old floor tile needs to go, and the stall hardware is rusting with age.
The steak page on the menu has handwritten prices and ounce sizes, and it wasn’t neatly written. Also, anytime “New York Strip” was printed, it was followed by the word “Steaks”, making the reader thinking they would be getting at least 2. The other steak cuts were listed fine. “Salmon” was misspelled, but it didn’t stop me from ordering it. It was a decent cut, well prepared and seasoned. My baked potato was still hard in the middle though. The 3 pueces of asparagus didn’t look appealing, but actually well flavored and a little audente but on the salty side, maybe pan fried? Also ordered a bowl of the cream of crab soup, as did my friend, and while it had a good flavor, and I could taste the sweetnes of the crab blended with that old bay flavor, it definitely wasn’t lump crab that so many locals serve, and we were both spitting out shells with every spoonful. I can understand a few a few shells here and there but this was worse than my mom’s handpicked crab meat.
The restaurant didn’t seem gross like it used to be, I could see that some effort was being made on improvements, but it still felt unfinished. The grease stained pictures are down, and new wood paneling has been installed on the walls but it definitely wasn’t a professional job. Pencil lines and cut marks are still visible, and many of the joints visible to me where I sat were crooked. The paneling is a very light color which makes the walls bright. Maybe some darker stain might help both of these issues.
We went there on a Tuesday evening at about 630 and there weren’t many people dining in that evening. I’m not sure if it was because it was a weeknight or folks aren’t coming back to check it out yet.
It’s better under the new ownership, but a lot of improvements still need to happen to break away from the old Landing stigma.
Our server was attentive and very pleasant.
I used to call St. Mary’s Landing hit or miss with more miss than hit, but this visit was in the middle. I’m giving it more time but I will be back.

My Husband introduced me to St. Mary’s Landing and he was so right, they’ve got fantastic fried chicken!! If you favor a more rustic scene, then you’ll appreciate the down home atmosphere and being located right across from the Hughesville Farmers Market adds a tint of country laid back even more. Again, I always order the fried chicken you can’t go wrong there. But the only down side I’d say is that there aren’t many side orders to choose from (and we’ve been so many times that I’ve tried them all) and they’re all bland. But I don’t go to St. Mary’s Landing for the sides…I go for the fried chicken!! I do like the fact that they have a bar and the margarita wasn’t too bad….(update as of 10/24/2020…something went terribly wrong and I’m not sure what it was. I only heard that they failed inspection because of roach infestation and now as I ride by the place looks like a ghost town. We won’t be back simply because we can’t take a chance with our health like that. But I will miss the chicken…Well maybe not now that I think about it ♀️ )

Our grilled shrimp, fried shrimp, open faced roast beef sandwich & steak were all delicious. Service was slow at first, but once we ordered it was all good. Our waitress was great and she was very pleasant the entire time we were there. We will be returning to try breakfast and lunch at some point

Used to love this place. Since it’s been sold I’m not understanding the changes. Only the name has changed and they hung some light colored paneling and left the old stained dropped ceiling tiles. They also moved the breakfast bar. No idea why and it didn’t look great. They are even still using the cups that say St. Mary’s Landing Our food was decent except we never got our fried mushrooms with our order and when we asked about them the waitress said they couldn’t find them in back. She brought them out right after that though. They looked awesome, but we’re still frozen in the middle….

Went on Sunday at 12. The place wasn’t crowded but it took about 1 hr to get our food. The waitress wasn’t pleasant at all. We were in a hurry to order and didn’t notice that both of our orders were supposed to come with two sides. But the waitress didn’t ask “what sides would you like?” They just dumped the home fries on both plates. That was easier, since people next to us got the fries. The food was okay. I wouldn’t go again.

This place is terrible. The welcome sign had dust all at the bottom. Not very welcoming. We ordered our food over the phone for pick up and still had to wait an hour longer when we got there. I could understand if it were busy. They gave someone else our mozzarella sticks. I got a basic bacon cheeseburger and asked for it to be medium. It was hard as a brick. The French fries were soggy. If this is under new management I’d really hate to know how bad it was before. Don’t go here!

The food was very good with decent sized portions.
The server was A+.
The kitchen was SLOW!!!
45min + for appetizers…another 35 min for entrees.
We didn’t complain, and they did give us an unsolicited 10% discount for the wait, so I will give them another shot.

The waitress was awesome. But let me tell you that I had a horrible experience. First we called and asked if they were still doing breakfast and was told us yes, until 1. We get there seated and placed a breakfast order and waited. The waitress came back and told us the kitchen was closed for breakfast. I told her no, we called and they told us 1. It was 12. She went back to the kitchen and told them we were told 1. The kitchen staff still said no and that they put away breakfast. So we looked over the menu after wanting to leave and ordered. Finally the cheese fries I ordered when I first sat down arrived. Then we waited and waited til we just gave up on this place. There were 4 tables and not busy plus servers were able to sit and wait. They should be cleaning. It smells like grandma’s old musty basement. Truly disappointed.

It definitely needs some updating but do not let the appearance deter you. I had the Fried Shrimp basket and it was the best fried shrimp I have had. It was perfectly cooked with a good ratio of flavorful breading. The crab cake had just enough filler to hold it together and it was nicely seasoned. The fried chicken was nicely crispy but needed more seasoning.
All in all a good meal. It did take some time but food cooked to order does.
