Have been coming here for several years now and find myself here nearly once a week lately. Food and Drink prices are unmatched in the area, so incredibly reasonable. Food isn’t the absolute best I’ve ever had, but still great and prices make it 110% worth it. Friendly staff and some of the local characters are a hoot. Trivia is fun even though I always do horrible. Karaoke on Saturdays is a blast. I could go on!!

As a long-standing member of the American Legion Auxiliary, I would like to respond to the two recent negative comments regarding the SLP Girls Basketball team kneeling during the National Anthem.

First, there has been misinformation shared suggesting that the SLP Legion has not supported SLP girls’ sports teams. This is simply not accurate. The Legion regularly donates to this team, as well as to many other organizations and community requests. Funding is limited and all donation decisions require discussion and consensus. The Legion works hard to be fair and equitable in distributing funds, while also following specific guidelines that determine what can and cannot be supported.

It is disappointing to see a military veteran and Legion member suggest otherwise. One of the Legion’s core missions is to promote patriotism. It should not be surprising that members would have concerns when a team chooses to kneel during the National Anthem, as some view this action as potentially disrespectful to our country, our flag, and to those who have served and sacrificed for them. Whether or not that was the team’s intent, it is understandable that such actions may be interpreted that way by veterans and their families.

Second, to the individual who described the Legion’s letter to the team as “gross on so many levels,” I would respectfully remind everyone that actions can carry consequences. The Legion, like any organization, has the right to determine where its donations are directed, within its mission and values.

I would welcome an open meeting that brings together the students, parents, school board members, current military personnel, veterans, and their families to have a respectful and constructive conversation. Open dialogue could help foster understanding on all sides. I also believe there is value in educating students and families about the varying perspectives surrounding kneeling during the National Anthem, including both why some choose to do so and why others may feel hurt or offended by it.

We all value freedom of expression. At the same time, freedom does not mean freedom from consequences. My hope is that, as a community, we can approach this issue with mutual respect, honesty, and a willingness to listen to one another.

As a military veteran and a member of the Legion, supporting our community is extremely important to me. I believe strongly in the Legion’s mission of service, leadership, and investment in local youth. That’s why I’m disappointed by what appears to be a lack of support for girls’ sports programs in St. Louis Park.

From what I’ve observed, boys’ teams receive financial support while girls’ teams do not. Supporting women’s sports is a high priority of mine because these athletes work just as hard, represent our city proudly, and deserve equal opportunity and backing.

I hope Legion leadership will take a serious look at this and consider supporting all youth athletes equally. Doing so would better reflect the values of fairness, leadership, and community that the Legion stands for.

Easy parking both in front and back of the building. Lots of booths, tables, bar space. Great, attentive service. Great burger. Live music. 11-12-2022 update, still great food on a Saturday night without live music, had a pulled pork sandwich special with waffle fries, and ham and cheese sandwich with onion rings.

Average Legion with great food, great price, great drinks

Burgers are well made, topped with delicious ingredients

Drinks are made strong so be prepared

Updated 5 years later…5 stars all around. With all the crazy prices in the restaurant world right now, the Legion delivers without breaking the bank!

We are there weekly, every other week at this point. Thank you!!

Prime Rib on Thursday at the Legion Saint Louis Park was amazing! The portions are huge, and the cost was very reasonable ($14.95). I would consider this to be one of the best deals in the Twin Cities! The service is outstanding, and everyone is always friendly here. I will definitely be back for Happy Hour and their weekend Brunch. I have heard that their bar tenders make a bloody mary that is somewhat of a legend in the area. I can’t wait to go there again!

Your harassment of St Louis Park girls for fighting for freedom is disgraceful. America will always be the land of the free.

God Bless America and God Bless the American Legion for supporting veterans. Kneel all day long if you want but there are consequences for adolescent behavior and disrespect.

GREAT new spot, good food, reasonable prices, friendly people. Comfortable atmosphere and all are welcome! Pull tabs and other ways to gamble as well as darts, bingo and other activities. Check the calendar for specific events, dates and times. It changes weekly as well as food specials. Solid pour for my crown straight up.
