Picked this local bar and grill because it was close to our hotel and we just got into town for a few days. Found it based on reviews online. I had the brisket sandwich and tots, my wife had the smash burger and sweet potato fries. Wow, just really good. Our server was friendly, attentive, and helpful with our questions. We couldn’t eat all our food. My wife’s comment was you cant underestimate the difference a good bun makes. I hadn’t thought about that, but that was definitely the case here. I also had a New Glarus Back Forty Bock, which was on tap. Also wow. Hope to pick up a case or two before we head back to Illinois. When you walk in, you only see the long bar, the booths are in the back. Lots of nostalgia, place has been here since the 1940s. Definitely a place to go to when at the Dells, unique, towny place, which is my favorite.

We’ve been coming to the Dells for years and stopping at Monks is always a must while we’re here! I couldn’t believe I hadn’t done a review yet! The food is so good! The cheese curds are a staple for sure! Each time we’ve received fast, friendly service and left completely stuffed. As if that wasn’t enough to leave a 5-star review, the kid’s meals come served on a frisbee!!

Overall food and service was great. Burgers were cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is like a typical bar with multiple levels. If I were to make a couple of suggestions, the onion petals we ordered were ok but way over priced for half an order and the amount you get for such. Also, eventhough the bathroom appeared clean, the floor was sticky. Other then that, I would recommend coming to the the iconic downtown Dells restaurant for a delicious burger. Lastly, when walking in and out of the restaurant, be careful as there is a slight slope!

Food was decent. I thought it was a bit pricey, but everything is more expensive these days and it’s on the main street of the Dells…. I got the street tacos and a side of fries (and a water) for about $18 before tip. I did like that they had small 2-person tables by the bar since I went by myself.
The tacos had a great sauce (it is jalapeno so it is on the spicier side). The chicken was excellent. I do wish the tortilla was grilled a bit, it was just a raw flour tortilla.

So many places that claim to have good burgers exist. So many of them don’t know the first thing about what makes a good burger. Monk’s is a delightful place and they know how to make a quality burger. They understand the concept of medium-rare will have a pink center. They understand the concept of fresh a crisp vegetables makes the difference. I can’t comment on the big fancy location, but the hole in the wall downtown is fantastic.

Nice little town bar and potentially the best bone-in chicken wings I’ve ever had. We walked in with 15 people on a whim and they sat us upstairs and we were in and out in an hour or so. Thanks for the great hosting!

Customer service was phenomenal. We visited on a Friday during lunch in the spring, it was not too busy, servers are active and fun. Cheese curds are good, but the Gouda burger was out of this world! I couldn’t recommend it more. The Cuban sandwich was delicious as well. Service was fast, and location was very clean. Good tap selection. Street parking, and paid parking around the corner.

Stopped in here a little concerned that being dinner and downtown we would not get a seat and would be rushed. That didn’t happen at all. The service was great and we enjoyed the food.

My sister and I visited here on a Saturday afternoon. We sat upstairs. The decorations are nostalgic and fun to see. We shared fried cheese curds and a Reuben sandwich, which came with fries. The sandwich was quite large, and even with sharing it, neither of us could finish our half and very much enjoyed it. The cheese curds were very tasty. Also we had our appetizer within 10 minutes of ordering and barely another ten minutes later, had our meal. This was a good choice for us and enjoyed very much!!!
