Long time rocker spot, great legacy, they are veritable library of booze with some wild curation. Close to Marine depot Redwood city, Stanford, SF, Silicon Valley and SFX is 2feet away. Food ends at 2200 most nights, pool table, and indoor outdoor tiki vibe with generous big screens

Cool and cozy bar. It is a combination of tika bar and Irish bar with a lot of drink and food options. They have live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

Lovely bar, excellent atmosphere.
Very quaint decoration.

Service was excellent, drinks great
The food was OK, jalapeño poppers were nice but I found the Ruben a but greasy and salty for my taste.

The other main dish that my colleague had looked good honey burger.

Good portions, good price.

Nothing like getting an address and told to be there at a certain time for a birthday party.

Say less.

The outside is an omg where am I. Once you walk in the low dim lights of the bar welcome and the dance floor.

There is a pool table and darts.

Dont forget the outside bar that is tikiesc.

The patrons are mixed locals and passerby.

The food was hot and miss but I just kept the fries coming for the group.

No real compliants other than some creepers on the prowl.

Shoe chill bar with pretty good food (I had the nachos with chicken but the portion could have been bigger and a decent, albeit IPA-heavy tap selection. Bartender was super friendly and was working hard. Will be back for sure

St. James Gate is a super unique dive bar with a tiki bar twist, offering a fun and casual atmosphere with plenty of themed seating areas to explore. The layout is really cool—some of the tiki seating is open-air, which makes for a refreshing experience, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind when it’s raining (as we unfortunately found out the hard way).

They have a great dance floor with live music, a well-stocked bar, and even a pool table, which adds to the entertainment. We grabbed a few drinks from the tiki bar, and while the drinks themselves were pretty good, the bartender seemed a little weird about us walking over to scope out a table before deciding where to sit. He gave off a bit of a pressured vibe about staying in one spot if we wanted him specifically to make our drinks, which was a little odd.

One big plus—they have heat lamps in the tiki section, so even on colder nights, you’re comfortable outside. Unfortunately, while we were playing pool, we did have an encounter with a creepy guy who was making inappropriate comments toward me. Thankfully, when I brought it up to the bartender, he acted quickly and handled the situation professionally, which I really appreciated.

Overall, St. James Gate has a great vibe, caters to an older crowd, and offers a solid selection of drinks and food at reasonable prices. The quirky themed areas, live music, and relaxed tiki energy make it a fun spot to check out, though there are definitely some small service kinks to be aware of. Would I come back? Yes! Just maybe not on a rainy night.

I went to St. James Gate over the weekend. My wife and I was invited to a B-day Party. The areas with the furniture are nice to sit in and socialize. The areas are decorated in a tiki theme with seating for about 6 – 8 comfortably around a table that is equipped with a heating element in the middle. There are also heaters above tbe tables. There are Big Screen TV’s in these areas. There is a live band that plays, and there is dancing to compliment the drinking you will be doing. The dance floor is separate and doesnt bother the tables and areas that surround the bar, and there is plenty of bar space. There is al a pool table for you pool sharks. I forgot his name, but we had a young Hispanic guy which was a very wonderful host – even as the night progressed. We were with a Party of 15 and he was very attentive making sure we were okay! Parking is no problem since St. James is located in an industrial area with a lot across the street or street parking. My advice is to come before 7 p.m. if you want to avoid the door fee – but its not that much. All in all, Laid back atmosphere. Wonderful and pleasant experience…places like these are increasingly hard to find in the Bay Area. I would reccommend for any night its open.

Credit Card Fraud-Bland Food-Poor Service

Myself and two friends showed up on a Friday evening on a friend’s suggestion after attending the Whimsy Market at Devil’s Canyon. The waiter asked for a credit card before we ordered, apparently to prevent any dine and ditch situations. It sets such a bad tone before a meal but I agreed.

We were served tasteless bar food and up charged for a side. The place was more than half empty. We waited a long time for our bill and had to flag down two servers before we could pay. Our group paid for our meals and we left.

The next day there was a charge on my card from St James Gate. The charge was not one of our previous nights totals and I paid with cash anyway. After several phone calls and two messages, no one from the restaurant reached out to me about the charge.

I had to call my credit card company and based on the incident, they did not deem it as a mistake to be corrected by the restaurant. They deemed it as fraud. Maybe St James Gate has done this in the past and it triggered and alert with the credit card company, I don’t know.

What I do know is that it has taken many hours and a lot of energy to file the report, obtain a new credit card, change the credit card information for recurring merchants and finally write this review to warn others.

Save your time and money. Go somewhere else.

I had no idea about this place having stayed so close to this place for about a year and a half. I regret not going here before.

This place has amazing vibes. I love classic rock and got to witness a really nice band perform here the day I visited.

I like the backyard section of this place too. It was cozy next to the fire pit. They have a great collection of drinks as well. 🙂 I particularly loved their Brussels sprouts.

Kinda perfect for a first date.

This place is one of the best places that has great live music events in a Tiki atmosphere. The bar can make just about anything you desire . The food here is delicious, especially the hamburgers . So come on down for good times and great food. Oh and the patio is awesome, continuing with the Tiki atmosphere.
