Chicken Livers Mousse and Oysters are my favorite. Good atmosphere for a romantic meal. If you reserve and let you know ur special occasion, you probably get a good spot with a free ice cream. Everything is perfect except for Fauxi Faci, forgot what it’s called exactly, that wasn’t worth the price but other than that I love it.

We had a lovely dinner at St Jack. We went for small plates: bones narrow, ris de veau, sunchoke tartiflettes along with pommes frites, olives and bread & butter. Everything tasted wonderful and feed us both more than necessary. We will return with my parents when they will visit us for Christmas.

We had an exceptional evening at St Jack. While there were a few awkward moments with the staff, the food made up for it. When we first arrived with a reservation, they didn’t have a table for 5 ready for us, and tried to put us at a table for 4 with a person on the end. They adjusted after we asked, stating that the tables I asked them to put together were not available when we arrived; however, that was a little like putting it on the diner because they did know we were coming. I had written on the reservation that it was my son’s birthday, but they seemed unaware until I mentioned it, and then he got a scoop of ice cream with a candle. We were a late seating at 7:30, but not the only table still seated when we left, and we didn’t get any kind of a thank you or goodbye. All minor things, but they do affect the whole experience, especially when you are at a high-end restaurant. But the food, oh the food, was marvelous. We started with lovely oysters that were scrumptuous, went on the bread and butter, light and fluffy with the perfect level of salt. The Gougeres warm from the oven were amazing, as was the chicken liver mousse. I thought the tartar de boeuf was very flavorful, but if you are a traditionalist, as some of my family they didn’t love it as much but still liked it very much. My husband had the Sole, and it was an amazing surprise and would be my choice if I ate there again. The moules were lovely, and the curry broth you just want to drink straight from the bowl. The steak frite well well-cooked and fries w/the bernaise sauce were lovely (though a tad bit salty). We indulged in all three of their desserts, and the table was split between the Strawberry Choux and the Meyer Lemon Coeur a la crème as the best. Both were exceptional. We would definitely recommend eating here.

So good we came back twice in a week!
The warm snap pea salad was amazing … I had to come back for a second and this time I didn’t share it 🙂
The burger is easily one of the best I have ever had in my life!
We will be returning a third time since I am dying to try the mussels they smelled to die for. Every dish we saw come out smelled and looked delicious.
We ordered the steak frite the second time and also cannot recommend this dish enough. The fries are perfect crisp but also moist when you bite down.
The meat was perfectly done and had a beautiful crust while the inside was still juicy.
Edit:
Came back again. We finally tried the mussels, which were amazing! We also have the cucumber gazpacho a try, we normally don’t like cold soup, and my husband said it was one of the best soups he haw ever tried in his life!
The Marion berry parfait was also exquisite! Don’t skip dessert!

We went to St. Jack’s for my birthday and let me tell you it DID NOT disappoint. I’ve walked past this restaurant for years and have always wanted to try it and I’m so glad we did. My fiance and I sat at the chef’s counter, so we got to watch the team prepare the food. Everything was meticulously put together. We shared a cheese plate, appetizers and a plat principaux apiece. It ended up being more than enough food for the two of us. I wish I could point to one dish as a standout but everything was beyond. The endive salad was light and fresh, the steak was perfectly cooked, the copious amounts of butter in every dish was exactly what they all needed to be flavor bombs, and the light and fresh dessert was the perfect way to cap off our evening.

We will be back to try out the pub side of the restaurant soon! We watched so many yummy looking burgers leave the counter (not available on the restaurant side) that we can’t help but want to try one.

St. Jack never disappoints. Had a wonderful dinner with the family. It is loud and busy enough of a place where you can bring your children for fine dining and not worry that they are disrupting someone’s quiet romantic dinner with loud voices (of course within reason). We ordered the bone marrow, steak frites, rabbit, mussels, foie gras, and dessert. Every dish was rich (in a French way) and full of flavor. The staff was pleasant and attentive without hovering too much. Highly recommend!

My husband and I had a wonderful time at the newly expanded and renovated Portland Art Museum (yes, the shoutout was necessary) before heading to St. Jack. Since we arrived before it opened, we hopped over to the Muse Winebar to enjoy excellent wine. (Another necessary shoutout.) Finally, at St. Jack, we ordered a couple of glasses of red Bordeaux blend, the butter leaf salad, and chicken liver mousse with port poached prunes which were ALL AMAZING! The waiter even brought over some more baguette slices for the mousse that we didn’t even need to ask for. (When does that ever happen in a restaurant?) We then both had the steak frites which was to die for. The meat was perfectly cooked with a crispy exterior and medium, tender inside, seated next to thin fries atop the steak demi-glace and the bearnaise nearby. Lastly, we shared a pear galette with a brandy caramel which was the perfect end to a lovely, classic French meal. We loved it all and will be back.

Amazing food with great service. There were seats available for walk-in at 1700 weekday. We sat on the bar side of the restaurant. Mussel dish was exceptional. The burger was good but something that you can expect. Madeleine for dessert was awesome too.

Will definitely revisit.

They also offer a great selection of drinks and wines. Hands down, the best French spot in Portland!

I’ve been wanting to come here a long time… I used to live in France and I always miss the tartare so I thought I’d come check it out here. I saw that Saint Jack had it with the marrow, which is another thing that I really like. I’ve never had the two together, so I was curious what that would be like. The plating was beautiful the presentation. Unfortunately, the tartare was so acidic. The only thing I could taste was lemon juice, and there was barely any marrow in the bone. The chicken liver mousse was really nice. I actually liked that a lot more. It would’ve been nice to see some more Oregon wines on offer. I did appreciate the beautiful little ice cream I got for my birthday from the staff. Very thoughtful little touches like that really are the things that bring me back to places like this and I’m sure I’ll be back to try the other things on the menu. would be nice to see some foie gras
