Great cheese curds! Chicken salad sandwich made a good lunch. The fries with the sandwich were a little underdone. My girlfriend got the crabcakes and was disappointed.
Waitress was great! Attentive but not hovering (in a good way)!
Verdict: We would absolutely return to St Croix’s, just not for the seafood.

Popped in to try as there are limited options for food when running errands in Calais and we hadn’t yet. A friend had said it was mostly bagged Sysco type foods, but I like to try things for myself.
My partner got the fish and chips and I ordered steak tips, but do not eat a lot of carbs so opted for the side salad and vegetable of the day which was broccoli.
Steak tips were just okay, but a very small portion. Broccoli was overcooked, almost Mashable, and also a super small portion, maybe 1/3 cup. Salad was super small as well. Was not at all worth $26.
My partner said the haddock was amazing, and it was a whole filet, so good portion size. Bagged fries were over salted.
Our cocktails were decent.
Waitress was talkative and friendly, but my partner had to ask for a refill on his drink.
I’m quite a foody, and was skeptical of what we’d find when we moved downeast. Calais continues to lack good options like what we can find in Machias.
Overall, it may be a good spot to grab a pre-frozen burger patty and fries with a beer, but I wouldn’t suggest going for anything other than that.

Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. We both had the salmon with signature dry rub. Delicious! People seated near us ordered the fish and chips without looking at the menu – will have to try that next! (They were obviously regulars.) Love the historic photos on the walls. Will definitely be back soon!

This restaurant is the only one in town for a nice clean casual meal or they can host any number of events! Birthdays, baby showers, reunions & wedding receptions are just a few that I’ve seen. Absolutely LOVE the new outdoor seating where you can see the St. Croix River, you might even spot an eagle catching their dinner! They have a huge array of local craft beer & many options of specialty drinks! For the non drinker their strawberry lemonade is a must! The staff is always on top of every customers needs. My favorites are the homemade honey mustard served with delicious pretzel sticks or tenders, their in house smoked wings in a homemade dry rub, any of the flatbreads, the coconut shrimp, crab dip, beef tips, the traditional lobster roll and then the mouth watering pulled pork!

I was with a party of 5, that included a wheelchair. Everyone in our party was very pleased with the food. I had the fish and chips, the portions were generous. My fish was crispy and delicious.

I highly recommend dining here! The owners are extremely pleasant and treat their staff very professionally. Every time I’ve eaten here, I’ve had great food and service! I enjoy turning the tables and having my daughter, Jessica, wait on me. She’s extremely dedicated, and works hard, giving 110%. I’ve had so many people compliment to me about the excellent service she has provided them. St. Croix Tap and Table is lucky to have her as an employee!

The staff here was so accommodating for my family’s reception after a funeral. The bartenders, servers and managers were on top of everything even with the chaos. We appreciate you bar and tap!
