The place was really pretty. The service was great! Food preparation time was fair.
Shoyu Ramen:
– The ramen is like eating Lucky Me with chunks of meat. It’s like a weirded up Filipino fusion which doesn’t make sense.
Wasabi
– Isn’t legit wasabi, didn’t even taste spicy.
Chicken Karaage
– Is only tasty outside – the only saving grace for it is the ketchup.
Water tasted a bit funny.
Other than the ambience, not worth to go back for.
Ramen was not very superb and it was very expensive, tried cheaper ramens before but was way way better than this and more Japanese Authentic. (We asked for the recommended option which was: shoyu and tantamen, but neither met our expectations)
Gyudon is not so appealing and delicious as well, it was described as US beef but did not tasted premium at all. Taste does not match a 425 meal as well.
Katsudon was not very crispy upon serving.
Rainbow maki and salmon sashimi is ok but still on the higher end price
All in all, our expectations were not met (since it was said to be #1 Japanese restaurant in tagaytay). Will not recommend this place.
The ramen…I’d give it a 3.5/10 as it seemed like they used store bought spaghetti noodles, although the broth tasted ok. Told them to skip the fish cakes and egg and replace with more pork. Ended up with 3 tiny slices of pork.
The service was good, as the water glass was never empty. Quite overpriced for the quality though.
Probably will choose elsewhere for ramen next time.
Updated menu pics with new (higher) prices.
Ever had that déjà vu moment where you’re still savoring the flavors of an epic Japanese feast one day, only to find yourself at another joint the next, hoping lightning strikes twice?
Well, welcome to my culinary carousel!
Now, don’t get me wrong, this place isn’t half bad. But after yesterday’s flavor symphony, it’s like asking a cover band to follow up Duran Duran.
The dishes? Well, let’s just say they leaned a bit too hard on the sweetness scale for my taste buds. Think Tokyo Tokyo vibes, a Filipino twist on Japanese food that’s been cranked up a notch or two.
Would I sprint back here if I found myself lost in Tagaytay again? Eh, probably not.
Was it my first pick for a gastronomic adventure? Nope, not even close.
But was it a culinary catastrophe? Not at all!
I guess I was just expecting fireworks and got more of a sparkler.
I also like the feel of the restaurant. They have indoor and outdoor seating areas.
