Great food, warm atmosphere, and the value is amazing. We went for the fried cod but stayed for the family. Watch the video on how it all happened on YouTube just search for St Ambrogios Rockford or Manny’s Mexican Minute to see it. Pictures below are of the walleye and baked chicken both were a 10/10!! Definitely going back soon!

Recently we had the pleasure of attending the Saint Ambrose Friday Night Dinner at the invitation of some friends, and I must say, it was a delightful experience.

The St. Ambrogio Club is a cherished part of Rockford’s history, deeply rooted in the traditions of the Italian immigrants who helped shape our city. It stands as one of several distinguished clubs in the area, preserving a legacy of community and culture.

The service was exceptional, with a dedicated team working together in a well-practiced routine. While the evening’s special sold out within the first 30 minutes, the club’s signature dishes truly stole the show. The traditional Friday Fish Fry, accompanied by a fresh dinner salad and a choice of pasta or potatoes, was a highlight. The pasta sauce, reminiscent of homemade family recipes, added a comforting, nostalgic touch.

Desserts, courtesy of the Ladies’ Auxiliary, featured an array of cakes and pies, each one a testament to the care and skill of the volunteers.

The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the beauty this brings to our community in its unique charm and warmth that make up St Ambrogio Society of Rockford.

Very small private club. Staff members and other guests are always super friendly. The foid is always good, and a plus is they have “Nana’s desserts”, homemade cakes and pies for only a dollar. Cash only. I don’t eat fish, but understand it’s outstanding!

Food was great. Had the Friday fish fry. Baked and breaded cod were real good. Get there early if you want the walleye. Meals came with great side options.

I am not a member yet but I might become one. They have pretty good food and most of the people seem polite. I have only been there for Saturday lunches and their pasta dinner once a month. I do enjoy going with a friend who is a member.

Awesome place, but I would dare to say that the pasta is mushy and the sauce tasteless. This is surprising when you’re feeding a madhouse full of people w Italian roots, like myself.

My real name is Tony. I have stolen Colin’s profile to give a review of this restaurant. Tony thinks that the fried chicken was dry and tasteless. There was too much salt in the appetizers, and yet the spaghetti was plain. We found an onion ring in the French fries, which isn’t a human finger, but all the same, gross. We all had matching hoodies on, and I think the wait staff thought we were a gang. There was a drunk old lady who fell into our table, which made us have sad feelings. The beers were only half size, which was a big disappointment for my children. The Cod was dry, the wait staff got our order wrong, and my brother’s were mean to me.
