What a nice place! Stopped in looking for a bite to eat on a whim. Great little menu, plenty of choices. Friendly bar tender. Very helpful. Great prices, had a burger basket special that saved 5 bucks! Really recommend this place for a good meal.

Somebody had won $3,000 on one of the machines in the restaurant and they bought me a beer. I found $20 in another machine that someone had left and I use that to get me some more beer. This and brothers on oak are both really great places I’m plugging Brothers cuz I work there.

Have traversed to Baraboo for years and always saw this place, expected a classic Wisconsin dive and that’s what you get. This is definitely a local place as it was like a scene of a movie with a record stopping when we walked in. EVERYONE turned… however… they were kind and everyone was really polite and even moved down to accommodate our party which was really nice. The bartender was extremely, rough? I hate to say rough but she wasn’t very welcoming but she was attentive enough to make sure drinks didn’t sit empty and pull tabs got cashed out. A young guy came in to take over and he was extremely welcoming and polite, I’d like to come back when he’s the one running the show. Overall, the beer was cold, everyone was really cool and the prices were great. I’d be back even with the grouchy bartender who I half expected to be working at a place like this.

Bartender/server was very rough around the edges and suggested we go somewhere else right away when she let us know that they were out of all the fish specials except bluegill. We stayed, but honestly should have left. Not one smile from the server. Also mention after our table was done, she was done with her shift…
Won’t be back.
Also, expensive for was we got.$20 per person plus a tip. Don’t think we got $20 quality. Bloody Mary’s were good though.

If you’re a regular there, you’ll get exceptional treatment! If not, be prepared to wait and grab the attention of the staff. Poor guy at the end of the bar came in shortly after us and never was even looked at. He had his money on the bar and waited patiently. After about 20 minutes, he left. The bartenders were so busy with the regulars who came in to see their pool numbers and get signed up. We got our beverages right away and had to flag down someone for menus. The food was good. My hubby had to walk down the bar to find someone for our bill. Another complaint I have is, the smokers. Yes, they need to go outside, but why? They stand just outside the back door which is left wide open and the smoke comes rolling in like they are inside. I’m not kidding about just outside. It’s almost like they have one foot in and one out.
The bar is full of original woodwork and the original bar coolers. It’s truly beautiful and unique. I just wish I had a better report.
