**Solid spot for wings and comfort food**

Found this gem right next to my usual hotel in Plainfield – perfect timing since I was starving after a long day. Square Peg Pizzeria might be new but they’re definitely doing something right. Those buffalo wings were exactly what I needed – crispy skin, decent sauce with just enough kick. The mozzarella sticks were proper comfort food too, all gooey inside with that satisfying cheese pull.

Nothing fancy about the place but sometimes that’s exactly what you want. Staff was friendly enough and didn’t take forever to get the food out. Prices seemed reasonable for what you get. I’ll probably swing by again next time I’m staying at the hotel it’s convenient and the wings hit the spot. Worth a try if you’re in the area and want something casual.

I stayed at the Marriott which is adjacent to the restaurant.

A “Seasonal Special” Reuben came burnt — and it was mediocre, at best. The kraut was mushy and the Thousand Island obviously Sysco’s finest. And there was no pickle.

I decided to give them a second chance. A late lunch “chef’s salad” was one of the two ways I could enjoy their selection of salumi. (The other is an Italian Combo).

The drinks were potent — but I paid for doubles. No prob – that’s why I went there.

Also, why have a big bright juke box begging for your change — when it “wasn’t available.” The crew were playing NIN, and a lot of grunge from 1991.

I’d have had two more drinks, but I didn’t.

I understand that this is a new place in Plainville and is working out the kinks. The wings were okay they were not bad they also were not out of this world they were generic wing, I got the barbecue ones.

I got the Brussel and potato pizza and it was not very flavorful I found it to be very Bland and it was hard to muscle through I didn’t really want to finish it because I felt like I was forcing myself to. Maybe it could have used a bit of some type of garlic oil or garlicky saltier sauce because it was very bland. Maybe the potatoes could have been more seasoned. The customer service was all right it was a lot of new kids learning how to serve for the first time. They were very friendly but not very attentive but they’re brand new so I expect that this is just a learning opportunity for everyone I do hope to come back and maybe try a different pizza and maybe have a better opinion. I just don’t want to spend my hard-earned money on something that tastes a bit disappointing or lackluster

We really enjoyed our experience at Square Peg’s Plainville location! The bianco pizza was so unique with a mix of sweet and savory from the maple syrup and Calabrian chili oil, and the Detroit style pizza was delicious too. The sweet n smoky wings were a standout! Great drinks, bolognese, and dessert too. The food came quickly to the table, and everyone was super friendly!

Square Peg in Plainville is pretty good, but also pretty bad. Good stuff, interior is new, bright and welcoming. Pizza tastes really good and is cooked accordingly. Chicken wings are big and crispy if you ask for them to be done that way. Service is friendly enough. The bad stuff, chicken wing price is crazy high, the mug the dried spaghetti things come in is filthy dirty. Get rid of those or clean them up… worst thing is the very, very, very lacking amount of toppings… if you get a pizza with toppings you’d think every piece would have some of the topping(s)… not so here. Please don’t make an excuse that it’s artisan pizza. Square Peg please improve on that. Otherwise it hits the spot for good tasting pizza.

I’ve ordered delivery a few times since discovering this place in Plainville, CT. Great pies, among the best in the state, they’d deserve 5 stars for taste; but some issues with standard consistency. For example, last night’s Margherita appeared to have shrunk coming out of the oven (see photo)

First time here. Very pleased. The white pizza was great! We added shredded chicken. Will be back for sure!

This was my first time here and not my last. Came in during happy hour and were taken care of immediately. We got the Detroit pizza and it was amazing. The regular pizza was excellent as well. The wings were cooked perfectly. The desserts were excellent. One of the best parts of the meal was talking with Kirsten who is the assistant general manager. Her and her staff made this a great dining experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back again

Pleasant atmosphere and fun to watch a game. Service was great – he was on top of everything and very helpful answering questions. Solid menu too! So now for the Detroit Pizza it was underwhelming. Not horrible but nothing to say I would want to order a second time. Having seen a pie that didn’t have much sauce we asked for extra @ $2.00 charge. A draft IPA was $10 same beer we’ve ordered for $8.50. Again overall it was okay.

***UPDATE***

I just received a call from Joe, the CEO and he was extremely respectful, understanding, and even offered me a $100 gift card as an apology. He also stated that he was going to visit the Plainville restaurant to figure out where the issue has been occuring with the take-out orders.

Because of this excellent customer service, I changed my review to 5 stars. Joe, you’ve won us back.

As much as it pains me to write a negative review of one of my favorite local pizza places, after tonight’s order, 3 strikes and you’re out.

The pizza is either phenomenal or barely passes for pizza. Tonight’s experience was just that.

3 out of the past 3 times I’ve ordered takeout, the pizza was so thin in the middle that it had the consistency of a saltine cracker…paper thin, crunch and no flavor.

Tonight was a mixture of bad–completely charred on one side (and I mean so charred, parts of it turned to ashes upon picking it up). The other side was undercooked and doughy, all while being paper thin and cracker-like, not to mention the large was the size of a medium.

My daughter’s spaghetti portion was hysterical…so small that she had to make herself a 2nd dinner.

My family and I enjoy our Friday night tradition of having pizza as a family, but we can’t always make it into the restaurant. We’ve never had an issue with the pizza when dining in but the past 3 times we ordered pick-up, it was very disappointing, especially for the price we pay.

Take-out orders should be set to the same standards as dining in. Unfortunately for Square Peg, you’ve lost a loyal family.
