This flagship restaurant is in another location, as I understand it, and this second location, now in the heart of Old Town Key West, is fairly new. What a fantastic addition and treat for locals and visitors!
After some disappointing mediocre meals on this Key West trip (our 7th or 8th time here), I am thrilled to say Square Grouper was fantastic and just what I wanted (and needed). The atmosphere was lovely, and it was quiet enough to be able to chat with your dinner partner. And the food was incredible.
My husband had a farmer’s salad with quinoa, shrimp and the fish of the day — tripletail — added to it. He loved all of it, and it was a hearty portion. I wanted to try several things, so I had 3 lunch appetizers: First up, the flash-fried conch — which was one of the few times I could actually taste the conch, not just the breading, and it was delicious. I love Key West pink shrimp, so I had the crispy buffalo Key West pinks; the breading was barely there, so you could actually taste the yummy shrimp. And the buffalo sauce wasn’t too hot and the shrimp also comes with ranch dipping sauce. Next up, I tried the ahi tuna and avocado eggrolls, which … I’m running out of descriptors … was also delicious.
Service was great, attentive, and food was ready fast. So many great things to say about this addition to Key West.

Not to be dramatic but this is actually the best meal I’ve ever had. We had this place recommended to us by one of the crew members of Sebago and it absolutely did not disappoint. From the moment we sat down the service was incredible. Very kind and attentive staff. Our waitress was Samari (I hope that’s right) and she was absolutely wonderful, she walked us through everything and was above and beyond with service. The fish was so tender and the flavors were 10/10. I tried many different kind of oysters, they were well worth it. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone and we will definitely be back.

When you’re at the Square Grouper you gotta have grouper! In a town with filled so many amazing dining choices, we chose our last meal in Key West to be here! Without a doubt, my favorite restaurant. And today, Stephanie was our server. She did an amazing job steering us to our best food choices: grouper fish tacos, and the farmers salad with sautéed grouper. Delish! Our starter was the tuna and avocado egg roll, which is basically a meal on itself and absolutely fabulous. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Key West.

Pepita chicken yes please. Curry cauliflower was amazing. Skirt steak has no comparison. There’s really no wrong choice. Ive been to 3 of their locations now and the consistency in service , food and cleanliness impressive.
Our waitress this time was Kelsey and she is so sweet, very happy to answer questions. I’d happily eat here again.
My only complaint is there is no changing table for littles in the bathrooms.

We’re really kind of picky. This place really pulled it off. Our waitress is very good. The food was delicious. The grouper bites the grouper bites. Tell you right now folks this place is worth it. It’s a little expensive but when you eat the food and look at the scenery, you won’t worry about the cost. I mean, if you want fresh fish or seafood this is The Spot.. the bread was delicious as soon as we sat down when you were in the right place thanks for making my wife smile into our waitress will be back. Appreciate that put a little smile.

Went with the recommended snapper sandwich and fish special. Food was great! My one issue was that our server’s heavy latin accent and VERY fast speech made it hard to understand everything she said. She was friendly and attentive, just needs to speak more slowly – especially for “old folks” like me and hubby.

Our server Anton was wonderful! Everyone in the whole restaurant worked as a team to take care of every need! We had the calamari appetizer and it was fabulous! We both had the Conch schnitzel with the rocket salad, wonderful! Next time going to try the oysters, big selection and fresh!
