Stopped over for dinner during our block island trip. Tuna stack/tartar was flavorful and probably the best. Clam chowder was good too. Pizzas were okay. Spaghetti pomodoro was not good. It tasted like canned sauce on spaghetti. Great views of the ocean. Service was good. Parking wasn’t bad. It’s a huge place so your orders will take time. Keep that in mind if you have ferry back to mainland.

From the atmosphere to the staff everything was perfect. The scallops , tuna and steak were cooked to perfection. The staff is extremely friendly , patient and helpful. You will not be disappointed with any of the menu options and just about every view is beautiful when you sit outside .

I had an outstanding first meal outside for lunch. The service was great and the food was fantastic. Spectacular view.

Sat on in the lawn chairs to enjoy the view and have a few drinks. The service was good and the view amazing, but the drinks were extremely overpriced and weak. The gin and tonic was served in an 8 ounce plastic cup loaded with ice and what tasted like a splash of Henderick’s gin. The Aperol Spritz was no better and lacking the bright orange color indicating only a splash of Aperol was used. $36 for this and an iced tea? Honestly would have stayed and had a few more drinks if they were even decent, which they weren’t even close to. Of all the places we’ve gone to for drinks on Block Island, these were by far THE WORST.

Very disappointing! Food was mediocre at best. Booth we sat at was very uncomfortable, and so low, our chins were practically on the table. We asked for a pillow, and surprisingly for a restaurant located in a hotel, no pillow was available. Overpriced. Would not go back!

Clam chowder was excellent. Pomodoro was “Chef Boyardee” quality, maybe slightly better. Steaks were tough. Dessert good. Have been here many times in the past. Food was much better with a better choice of entrees. I hope management reads this and improves.

The burger is excellent however the fries that come with it are very disappointing, they are like potato sticks. If you are paying almost $30 for a burger you will think you would get decent fries, no you don’t even McDonalds fries are better .

Honestly, this was one of the worst dining experiences that we have had, but perhaps it was because we were there for dinner early in the season. My wife and adult children ordered a wide variety of dishes, and they were uniformly bad or mediocre. The oysters had shells in them, the risotto was cooked to mush, the service was slow and awkward. The crab cakes were probably the best thing that we had. The worst thing was the atmosphere. Children from a table nearby were literally playing tag between the tables while their parents sat blissfully unaware of the chaos. We love kids, and had this been the McDonald’s play land I may have even joined them. But when your expectations are set for a fine dining experience, and the bill is commensurately high, it was frustrating. We try not to complain while at dinner, because it just makes a bad thing worse. I’m not after free food, and you cannot redeem the time. This was definitely a memorable experience, but not in the way that one might wish for.

This edition is for “Victoria’s Bistro” aka the bar dressed up as a dining room. Quite the room it is with it’s nods to the grandeur of the Spring House…but, it is a bar. The Barn has the Dining Room vibe character and food. One has the feeling they may share a kitchen. Back to the bar … drinks are what you’d expect on the Block. Except 5 star kudos to the wine buyer. Apps start to inch up with Squash Bisque at 11.00 and Beet Salad at 18.00. After the drinks and menus evaporate, entrees begin to roll in … well timed at that. Shrimp n Grits aka polenta- somewhat dry, Mushroom Ravioli at 36.00, Halibut Special 44.00 and a NY Strip Steak (NOT rib eye) at over 55.00. Yeah, yeah, yeah … it averaged out to about $90.00+ per person. In a bar, a grand bar, but a bar with a view of the room. All that said … we’ll be back … for dinner on the deck overlooking the ocean.
