Absolutely the world’s best clam chowder to me!! Especially with the crab meat and golden-brown-toasted bread, very soft inside. The onion rings are huge and tasty, too.

Splash Cafe offers a decent selection of seafood dishes, with highlights including their clam chowder, fish and chips, and lobster roll. The clam chowder is particularly noteworthy, boasting rich flavors and a satisfyingly creamy texture. The fish and chips are enjoyable, although the fish itself lacks the desired crispiness, making it more on the softer side.

This place was highly recommended for their Clam Chowder on Trip advisor and Youtube guides, but we were quite disappointed when we went. Maybe it was because we went at the end of the day – they close quite early and the chowder was nothing special, the fries were cold and the fish a bit over-cooked. The service was friendly and although we had to wait a while for our order they were working hard as it was busy. I don’t know if our order had been waiting a while before they called us, but we were right by the pick up point and hadn’t seen it. The food was expensive, but so is everywhere now so not more expensive than anywhere else. It certainly seemed more busy than other restaurants on the street, so maybe we were just unlucky.

We ordered lobster roll, killer cod wrap, clam chowder and fries. We were more than full and satisfied. The lobster roll is super delicious with unbelievable price especially for people from Bay area where any seafood dishes start around $25. BTW the fries are great. Clam chowder is superb. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the crowd too.

The Clam chowder definitely is one of the Best if not the best, I am going to give a five star for the food however one employee specifically the one at the cashier needs more training when it comes to talking/communicating to customers. I hope the management looks at this issue bec she might be the reason you lose patrons.

The BEST clam chowder I’ve ever had. I grew up going here on trips to Pismo beach, but moved cross country. Was in town with my family and got to take them to try the goodness that is Splash cafe. Getting there was insane due to the car show, and the wait was long, but it was worth it all for clam chowder in a bread bowl. (My photo doesn’t do it justice because I had to get it to go and it was a hike back to where we were staying.) The chowder is creamy, full of potatoes and clams, and flavorful. The bread bowl is delicious – and they give your the scooped out bread too – BONUS! Toasted and with butter, dipped in the clam chowder = perfection. We also had fried shrimp and chips and a chicken sandwich (picky kids), and they were also tasty and good value for money. Definitely returning anytime I am in town, and brought a Splash cafe mug back cross country for the memories.

Splash Café in Pismo Beach is a must-visit if you’re a fan of clam chowder. Their clam chowder is undoubtedly one of the best in town. What sets their chowder apart is the creamy texture and the delicious clams that are used to make it. But Splash Café isn’t just about the chowder; they also serve other options like fried and healthy fish dishes. However, if you’re there, make sure to try the clam chowder. You won’t regret it.

Came here for the Chilli Bread Bowl, as outstanding as I remember it back in 2000. Cafe is super busy, very small dining area. Can always order to go and sit on the beach.

Small cafe in a small town. Best known for their clam chowder, it is great. Pismo Beach relies on tourism and thus this cafe is busy during the summer. With the small size of the cafe, there isn’t much room for tables to eat the food there. Luckily there is plenty of counter space if there isn’t a table available. Even after the typical lunch rush (after 1330 or 130PM) on a saturday the line to order is out the door and at times around the corner. The sidewalk around the corner is narrow compared to newer sidewalks. This has the unfortunate side effect that the outdoor tables that used to be there are no more to accomodate the line to order when it backs up around the corner. There is a pick up window on that small sidewalk near the back of the cafe which is convenient if you want to order ahead and take it to go. It means that the space for a few tables is now occupied for this takeout window. After you do order, you grab a table ot space at a counter and then when your order is ready, one of the employees will take it out to you. Most of the employees are very friendly and helpful. I had a small issue where I asked for a to go container and I had dropped one of the pieces of foil the employee had given me. The employee picked it up off the floor before I could get to it and put it on top of the other piece of foil I still had in my hand. I’m glad she picked it up for me but a bit disgusted that something on the floor was put into my hand holding a piece of clean foil: making both ofnthem dirty. As for the food we had the clam chowder, loaf of sourdough and the calamari & chips. The french fries were good, they were cooked well done though the seasoning was light. I ciuld barely taste the seasoning without any condiments and ketchup totally overwhelmed the seasonings so that they might as well only have been salted at that point. The calamari was good by itself and the tartar sauce is great but overwhelmed the calamari with the flavor. There was only one lemon wedge whichbwas enoigh for maybe half the calamari so hopefully a bigger or second wedge is added in the future. The lemon accented the calamari without overwhelming it. The sourdough loaf was great but with it being buttered and toasted on only side the taste wasn’t uniform, felt uneven and too light. I think if it was buttered and toasted on both sides, it would solve this issue. I ordered a bread bowl of clam chowder while my parents ordered a regular bowl. I think we had the same amount of chowder. Also I feel like the sourdough bread bowl tasted better than the sourdough load, the taste of the bread was stronger, a bit more sour. Stronger flavor, but not too strong. All of my family said there were only a fee bits of clams in each of our bowls and a few pieces were chewy like the clam pieces were old and or overcooked. All of us had the seafood topping added to our bowls which was a great choice. It added mini shrimps and imitation crab meat, helped make uo for the small amount of clams. Will definitely come back again, preferably in the off season
