They sell by the pound mostly, no platter like sampler, very delicious food. We had a burnt end brisket sandwhich, prime brisket and a beef rib (that weighed 1.6 pounds!). For sides we had the Coleslaw and Jalapeño Mac and Cheese. Just two of us and we spent a little over 100 bucks. Great quality, and ask for the spicy BBQ–that is very tasty!

Living in Houston Texas since 1988 I believe I know what True Texas BBQ tastes like. Today my Buddy Oscar took me to a restaurant that opened up close by called Spirit of Texas Craft Barbecue in Covina California. Let’s start with the location plenty of seats available, a private room with a draft beer bar, Friendly n Courteous Staff and a large menu to choose from. I tried just about everything. The Briskit was tender & juicy that I cut it with a spoon, the sausage was crisp n with a little spice to give it a kick, the pulled pork was tender n Delicious, the potato salad was excellent very Flavorful with actual hard boiled egg pieces, the Mac n cheese was cheesy and delicious, two types of BBQ sauce one regular with a little kick and their spicy one that brings the heat in which you can see the seeds from the pepper. Now my only drawback was their roasted chicken it’s Flavorful, Tender, Delicious but, it wasn’t juicy a bit dry. Overall a Great experience with This Texan on his first but, not last visit Y’all!

You know a barbecue place is going to be great when they have two iron work steer in front of the building as decorations. When we two fat dudes walked into this new BBQ joint, we just knew we would be waddling Out later like a pair of stuffed walruses. The scent in the air was utterly intoxicating. All sorts of delightful meats and trays of delectable sides were on offer. At the suggestion of the young fellow working behind the counter, we tried the burnt ends BBQ brisket sandwich. If you are a dedicated barbecue fanatic, you know how good the end bits are when they are well done. The serving size was a massive mound of brisket neatly chopped and placed on a bun. The sandwich was supposed to come with coleslaw, but I’m not sure if our other side options cancelled that out, because I selected bbq beans, cornbread, and mac n cheese, while my rotund lunch partner selected plantains, cornbread, and sweet yams. I pretty much forgot to ask about the slaw, but honestly, I would not have had room for it anyway. The meat was perfectly cooked, completely tender, and near melt in your mouth consistency. The house BBQ sauce complemented it nicely, and I even tried some of their spicy sauce, which was also pretty savory. The beans were fantastic, especially once I’d given it the signature treatment of crumbling cornbread on top of it. It was also full of brisket, which was a great touch to boost the flavor. The mac n cheese was excellent, and a good counterpart to the beans. My friend seemed to enjoy his plantains, but couldn’t quite finish the yams as they were so sizable. This restaurant doesn’t have the usual Coke or Pepsi drink dispenser station. Instead, they have a wonderful selection of pure cane sugar craft sodas, including a diet cola, which I enjoyed. I also tried a little of their Snozzberry and Shirley Temple sodas. Both were great, but I stuck to my standard diet cola, to somehow convince myself I was watching calories. I pretty much vacuumed up my meal, and then it was time for dessert. The banana pudding was Fantastic!! It had a robust flavor without being overly sweet, and was made as it should be, with chunks of real banana, vanilla wafer crumbles and some whipped cream. Excellent! I was so stuffed by this point, I couldn’t actually finish my dessert, and offered the remainder to my friend, who, despite being full himself finished the job off like a champion glutton. After gorging like two enormous hogs at an open buffet, it was time to go. I spoke to the cook and told him he did a commendable job on making some solid Texas style BBQ. I also told him I was from Texas and that I’m very picky about barbecue, especially places that claim to be “Texas style,” but I had no complaints about Spirit of Texas Craft BBQ. He told us they have only been open in that location about 9 months and were happy to have our business. I told him we will definitely be back to gorge again, and will likely try a few different menu items. Looking forward to going back real soon. Prices to expect: You can eat lightly with a sandwich, slaw, and drink, for just a little over $20, or you can eat like kings for $35 per person. You can also select meats by weight if you desire! Don’t walk, Stampede down to Spirit Of Texas BBQ!

This was by far the best BBQ place I have been to in Southern California. Everything we ordered; ribs, brisket sandwich, rib tip, sausage, mac n cheese, corn bread, BBQ beans, potato salad, and banana pudding were all so good.
The space was clean and the workers were very nice. We live about an hour away from the restaurant but we will definitely be back.

Best barbecue place in LA County. I travel in Texas frequently for my work and I have eaten at Franklin‘s barbecue, I’ve eaten at Terry Blacks, and all the other famous Texas barbecue joints. This one’s better and not just because you don’t have to wait three hours to get it (though I do recommend getting here early). It just tastes better, it has more flavor, better texture, and better sides. There will be a line if you’re here later and it’ll be worth waiting in. But if you go a touch early you’ll have good food, that reheats well, and great service to go with it with a minimal wait. Highly recommend.

Brisket was good! Plenty of seating and parking. They have many sides and desserts to choose from as well. Bbq by the lb options.

We decided to try this today because they are opening one in Apple Valley and we wanted to try this. We’re originally from Texas and are very picky about barbecue. We have never had any brisket in SoCal that we thought was good. The brisket had that Texas smoke taste and was so tender and flavorful. It was amazing!

I made a very big order for Christmas Eve on December 22, 2025 for pick up on Christmas Eve @ 11:00 AM. When I arrived they said the did not have my order. I waited 45 minutes while they looked for my order. In professional service and short hand on The holidays. I order the Brisket, BBQ Pork Ribs, BBQ beef RIBS , Potato Salad, Mac & CHEESE, Green beans, Coleslaw, and Hot Links. My family and I love BBQ, this BBQ WAS the worst BBQ and sides tgat I have every had. Over cooked and had no taste. I really think the BBQ was pre cooked. I will never buy any food from them again.

I am absolutely happy with everything I ordered. (Brisket, burnt pork belly, ribs, mac’n cheese, cheese wedge potatoes and cornbread) The portions are generous and the flavors are great! Ask for the spicy bbq sauce. The food was delicious!
