We recently tried Spicy Tandoor in Sunnyvale, CA, and had mixed feelings about the experience. We ordered the Dahi Puri, Kachori Chaat, Daal Aloo Tikki Chaat, and Amritsari Kulche with Cholle. While the variety of dishes was appealing, the overall execution left us a bit disappointed.

The Dahi Puri wasn’t up to the mark—the puris were soggy, which took away from the usual crisp texture that makes this dish so enjoyable. It felt like it had been prepared ahead of time and lacked the freshness we were hoping for.

The Daal Aloo Tikki Chaat also fell short, as the spices didn’t seem to gel well with the rest of the dish. The flavors felt disjointed rather than harmonizing into the bold and tangy taste expected from a good chaat.

The Amritsari Kulche and Cholle, while generously portioned, were overly loaded with oil and lacked the rich flavor typically associated with this dish. The cholle, in particular, could have used more depth in seasoning.

On a brighter note, the Kachori Chaat was decent, with a nice crunch and a tangy, spicy flavor that stood out among the dishes we tried.

While the convenience of the food truck and the diverse menu are definite positives, the inconsistent quality and lack of flavor in some dishes left us wanting more. We hope to see improvements in freshness and seasoning in the future, as the concept has great potential.

One of the closest flavor to the Amritsari Chole. We have tried their Amritsari Chole Bhature & Suji Dahi Puri. Their Kulche & Chuur Chuur Naans are also great, they just get over fast so should plan accordingly. Only issue is that they operate only few days, but then may be that is why they are able to maintain good flavors. Definitely willbe going back to have their Kulche & Naan.

Very bad food. Super thick bhatura. Very average chole. Watery green chutney and terrible overall food. $32 wasted. Waste of time and money and effort. Terrible experience. This quality food was served on Saturday afternoon (peak lunch time)

Absolutely phenomenal, mind blowing. Like I’m back in Amritsar. I don’t have words to describe how yummy the choor choor nan and amritsari kulcha was. Wow. Amazing. Highly recommended for delhites and punjabis in the Bay Area. Super authentic.

Amazing amritsari kulchas! These are the best Amritsari Kulchas I have tried outside of Amritsar. The kulchas are crispy with good flavor. The choley have the perfect spice that compliment the overall taste. The suji halwa is not too sweet and is just perfect.

I went on a Sunday and really wanted to like this place but alas, I was met with yet another over marketed and hyped food truck with sub-par food quality. Since this food truck is new, I was fine waiting 40 minutes to get my food but couldn’t justify the wait with unpuffed and doughy bhature and flavorless chole. It’s a nice place to visit though because there are other food trucks around and they set a nice vibe which brings back great memories from home. I might visit again.

Delhi style chole bhatura, the bhaturas are good, the pindi chole is Delhi style (darker in color) but was missing the zing I felt. The chur chur naan thali was awesome, the nans are fresh and hot. The service is weird, they would benefit from those buzzer things, we asked how long it would take a d the guy flipped and was like Im making fresh food, it will take some time, but all I was looking for was an estimate so I can tend to other things in the meantime. Anyways, it was a busy day so he might have been flustered, so won’t hold it against him. They are few chairs here and there if you want to dine in, nothing fancy, it’s a good truck, duh! Two more Indian food trucks near by and a Mexican one as well in case you looking to mix and match.
