We came here to celebrate the Lunar New Year and everything was delicious! The ambiance is intimate and friendly, nice service, and great vegan buns, noodles, and tofu! 10/10 can’t wait to return!

This is another MUST stop when I’m in New York. This is actually some of the best food I have ever had, it never disappoints. The King Pao and General Tso “chicken” are my go tos but throw in some lo mein and appetizers and you’re in heaven! The portions are huge and great for sharing. HIGHLY recommend reservations, the place is small and gets very busy!

Recently I’ve been on a vegan diet and thinking of exploring some lifestyle changes to improve my overall health and wellness. So, I decided to give Spicy Moon a try after looking up the best vegan food in NYC. This visit comes after years of not dining at a vegan restaurant and you can understand how exciting it was. Spicy Moon did not disappoint! Check out my full review below.

Drinks: 8/10
I ordered the Raspberry Lime Spritz, it was really good and wasn’t too sweet! It gave what it was supposed to have gave. A cute little mocktail that was delightfully refreshing.

Service: 10/10
When we came in we were greeted immediately and we were able to pick our own seats. The server was really quick with taking our orders and getting our food out. We ended up having two servers, both of which were really warm and ready to help make things go smoothly.

Food: 8.75/10
The food was everything you look for in a dish, fresh, flavorful, great portion sizes and temperature-wise, hot. We had ordered the Garlicky Greens, Scallion Pancakes, Stirfry Chili Glass Noodles with Vegan Beef and The Vegetable Fried Rice. I’d recommend each dish, however the Glass Noodles & Veggie Fried Rice were served a little spicier than expected (I mean, it is in the name), with no indication on the menu. So, if you aren’t familiar with Szechuan Chinese food this is something to note!

Ambiance: 8/10
The restaurant itself was decorated very cute and fun. It was a cozy space and seating was a bit tight. I loved all of the Chinese decor mixed with the pink and red that made the space feel very cutesy and gave it so much personality.

Overall: 8.7/10

A solidly good vegan restaurant with excellent options for vegaterian “Meats” and dishes that you’d likely be craving especially if you’re exploring making some new life changes. I enjoyed this spot and I’d definitely be returning!

We Love Spicy Moon! The East Village location staff were super friendly and the food was great. The wontons in chili oil were our favorite this time, but literally every plate we had was good – you can’t go wrong.

All vegan but this is a place that omnivores and everyone will love! This location is a bit small (compared to Bowery location), but still nice vibes. Prices are great as well – this will always be in our regular rotation ️

If you’re looking for a place that truly delivers flavor, service, and atmosphere, look no further. Every dish was bursting with taste — the kind of flavors that make you pause mid-bite just to appreciate what’s happening. The staff was incredibly attentive and genuinely friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The vibes were perfect: warm, energetic, and inviting without ever feeling overwhelming.

This is the kind of spot that doesn’t just serve food — it creates an experience. Highly recommend!

This place is so good — I’m loving the vibe! The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Dan Dan noodles with vegan beef (and yes, the name is Spicy Moon, so brace yourself for a little heat — in the best way). I paired it with their crisp Dragon Lager, but you can also go for the complimentary water they provide.

They have two charming outdoor seating areas, which are perfect for enjoying gorgeous East Village weather. But honestly, the interior is so warm and inviting, you might want to eat inside just to soak up the decor.

The service was top-notch — the young gentleman who helped me was attentive, on point, and incredibly accommodating.

If you’re in the Lower East Side (or anywhere nearby) and craving flavorful vegan Chinese–Thai–Asian fusion that’s actually good for you, Spicy Moon is a must-visit.

Amazing vegan Chinese! Extensive menu, flavourful and big portions. Brussels sprouts side was 10/10 (even for someone who doesn’t like brussels sprouts) friendly service and accommodating for extras or swaps

10/10. I can’t stop thinking about this meal. Every single thing we ordered was fantastic. The mapo tofu, the crispy eggplant, the Szechuan fried rice….. ugh I miss it. We added impossible meat to the mapo tofu which you should definitely do. Cant wait to eventually order everything on the menu

Delicious plant based food !! Great attention to detail with packaging , but it’s a shame I had no cutlery to eat as I was in a hotel that had no room service and no cutlery was provided by spicy moon so spicy hands it was . But taste wise the food was amazing .

I’ve ordered from here before but we went as a party of three on Friday night. We had 8pm reservations but didn’t get seated until 8:15pm because it is a super narrow and tiny space. They were really sweet about it and made it up to us by offering us a free round of drinks. Food was perfect. We got scallion pancakes, shiitake buns, crispy eggplant, dumplings, and three mains. The portions are generous! I still had a whole meal left from my glass noodles with vegan beef, which I happily polished off the next day.
