Cozy, wood-accented eatery serving up plant-based Chinese Szechuan plates in a casual setting.

Recently I’ve been on a vegan diet and thinking of exploring some lifestyle changes to improve my overall health and wellness. So, I decided to give Spicy Moon a try after looking up the best vegan food in NYC. This visit comes after years of not dining at a vegan restaurant and you can understand how exciting it was. Spicy Moon did not disappoint! Check out my full review below.
Drinks: 8/10
I ordered the Raspberry Lime Spritz, it was really good and wasn’t too sweet! It gave what it was supposed to have gave. A cute little mocktail that was delightfully refreshing.
Service: 10/10
When we came in we were greeted immediately and we were able to pick our own seats. The server was really quick with taking our orders and getting our food out. We ended up having two servers, both of which were really warm and ready to help make things go smoothly.
Food: 8.75/10
The food was everything you look for in a dish, fresh, flavorful, great portion sizes and temperature-wise, hot. We had ordered the Garlicky Greens, Scallion Pancakes, Stirfry Chili Glass Noodles with Vegan Beef and The Vegetable Fried Rice. I’d recommend each dish, however the Glass Noodles & Veggie Fried Rice were served a little spicier than expected (I mean, it is in the name), with no indication on the menu. So, if you aren’t familiar with Szechuan Chinese food this is something to note!
Ambiance: 8/10
The restaurant itself was decorated very cute and fun. It was a cozy space and seating was a bit tight. I loved all of the Chinese decor mixed with the pink and red that made the space feel very cutesy and gave it so much personality.
Overall: 8.7/10
A solidly good vegan restaurant with excellent options for vegaterian “Meats” and dishes that you’d likely be craving especially if you’re exploring making some new life changes. I enjoyed this spot and I’d definitely be returning!

All vegan but this is a place that omnivores and everyone will love! This location is a bit small (compared to Bowery location), but still nice vibes. Prices are great as well – this will always be in our regular rotation ️
This is the kind of spot that doesn’t just serve food — it creates an experience. Highly recommend!
They have two charming outdoor seating areas, which are perfect for enjoying gorgeous East Village weather. But honestly, the interior is so warm and inviting, you might want to eat inside just to soak up the decor.
The service was top-notch — the young gentleman who helped me was attentive, on point, and incredibly accommodating.
If you’re in the Lower East Side (or anywhere nearby) and craving flavorful vegan Chinese–Thai–Asian fusion that’s actually good for you, Spicy Moon is a must-visit.
