Exceeded all our expectations! Amazing unsuspecting little shop/restaurant! Amazing staff, superb service and wonderful large portions and great value for money. A superb experience all round. Dry tasty and fresh food. We had the tandoori mixed grill and it comes with a naan, salad and sauce for £15. Very happy and will return!

I’m honestly very disappointed with my experience at Spice Aroma. We ordered keema naan, but there was no keema inside at all — just some red filling that tasted like chili powder, completely bland and pointless. The chicken biryani had no flavour whatsoever, just rice and chicken with no aroma or spice. We also tried the samosa chaat, which came with tiny samosas and a very small portion, definitely not what you’d expect when they call it “Punjabi samosa.”

Overall, the food was tasteless and poorly made, and nothing felt authentic or worth the price. Really disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

One line: good food, cheers to the chef, substandard service and atmosphere.

The food is good and we liked it. The chef sure knows his way around curries.

The service was very poor (considering that I was the only person for dine-in). The atmosphere is a bit off. I didn’t understand the language of songs being played. Certainly not Indian music (considering the theme of the place is authentic Indian).

Overall, the food is worth trying once.

Regular coming here for a food, but we never got asked to pay extra to make it spicy or to swap on the dishes but now they have started asking money to make it spicy, which is ridiculous. The one of the tall girl always rude when coming to take order. Food is alright not too good but okay okay.

Tried their lunch menu yesterday and couldn’t help but be amazed at how amazing it was. I tried the anda shami burger, which is a street food common to where I am from. It consists of a meat patty with lentils with an omelette and some condiments. It is slightly spicy but hits the note.

Alongwith that tried their paratha and chicken qorma. Paratha was freshly made and not like store bought ones. Really nice.

Also the chef is really polite and nice.

Do try the karak chai or stove Cooked tea with milk. It’s another dimension of tea.

Highly recommend their lunch menu.

This is certainly my most favorite Indian dining place in Exeter. The price is very cheap for the quantity they give and the food is extremely flavourful. I really like their different rice varieties such as keema rice and vegetable pulao. Even their chicken main dishes are very good. My favourite is Chicken Madras and Chicken Dopiaza. Really tasty food at excellent prices.

I ate here two days in a row and was impressed with the food each time. I’ve been looking for high quality food in Exeter for a while and Spice Aroma does not disappoint. They use quality ingredients and their experienced chefs create dishes that feel like home. I particularly enjoyed the Sylhet Gost, Tandoori Chicken and Lamb Sheesh Kebab. It is clear that a lot of care and effort has been put into every dish. I am excited to return and try more dishes on the menu. The staff and friendly and helpful and will adjust the dishes as per your preferences.

Update: I ate at Spice Aroma yet again! Thoroughly enjoyed the salmon jalfry and aaloo tikki chaat. Tasty as always.

It my new favourite Indian restaurant in Exeter. They have a good variety of vegetarian dishes and starters at affordable prices. The portions are good too. My favourite are Aloo tiki Chana chat and special rice. I also enjoy Punjabi samosa chat and saag aloo. Will be getting our food from here often and would definitely recommend it. It is located in the heart of the city and they deliver or you can dine-in.

It’s more or a takeaway or café than a restaurant, but if you want delicious food and can put up with people coming in for takeaways, this is highly recommended! First time there, will DEFINITELY visit again.
