I have been a patron here for years. I used to live in the ironbound and keep going back to visit this restaurant. I recommend it to everyone. It’s the best kept secret, in my opinion. Over the years, they have expanded, and it’s better than ever. The atmosphere can’t be better. The food is outstanding. My favorite appetizer is the shrimp in garlic sauce. My go-to entre is the scallops in wine sauce. All while enjoying their red sangria. Finish your meal with an espresso and the tartufo. Magnificent!

My parents brought me here growing up and I love the food so much. Now I bring my kids here, worth the 30+ min drive. In recent years fancier places have opened, but the food here is still the best! I love the sangria, garlic shrimp, all the soups, chicken scallopine, shrimp fra diavolo, mussles, the bread… everything! My husband had pork chops today – amazing always!

Awesome place! I have been coming here for over 30 years and it never disappoints! The food is amazing, the sangria is not watered down and the service is exceptional!
The most recent visit was to celebrate a group of birthdays. They gave us one of the rooms which fit about 25 of us. Even though we were separated from main dining room, servers were still very attentive. The portions are larger so they are shareable. I had skirt steak that came with veggies and mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked exactly as ordered. We brought our own cakes and they sliced and served for us. We never felt rushed and stayed for over 3 hours. We got there at 3pm on a Sunday so it wasn’t too crowded. I will continue coming and highly recommend!

My culinary journey at the Spanish Sangria Restaurant commenced with a promising start: a delectable Caldo Gallego that tantalized the taste buds with its robust flavors and comforting warmth. Moving on to the main course, the grilled swordfish stole the spotlight, showcasing expert grilling techniques that resulted in a perfectly cooked piece of fish bursting with bold and succulent flavors. Accompanied by broiled potatoes that exuded remarkable depth of taste, the dish was nearly flawless, except for the slightly disappointing frozen quality of the vegetables, which detracted from an otherwise stellar ensemble.

However, redemption came swiftly in the form of the restaurant’s namesake beverage. The sangria, a hallmark of Spanish cuisine, proved to be a symphony of flavors, perfectly balanced and expertly crafted, serving as a delightful complement to the meal. Concluding the evening on a high note was an espresso that delivered a satisfying conclusion, rounding off the culinary experience with a touch of sophistication.

The Spanish Sangria offers a commendable culinary experience, marked by moments of brilliance and nuanced flavors. While minor imperfections detracted slightly from the overall enjoyment, the restaurant’s commitment to quality and authenticity shines through, earning it a solid rating of 4 out of 5 stars.

The food was absolutely delicious. It was cooked to perfection—flavorful, fresh.

Service was attentive without being overbearing. Our server was knowledgeable.

Overall, a fantastic experience. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food and a comfortable atmosphere!

The location alone is bizarre. It’s located at a dead end. You walk in and it’s a bar. It was my first time at this restaurant so I just kept walking towards the back. The dining area is out dated. I mean from the 80’s. The drinks were great. The service – meh. I had the paella, which was delicious. One person ordered the ox tail and it was fatty and looked Grey- we sent it back.
They refused to give us 2 checks. That was infuriating because the check was in paper!! Not into a computer.
The order of empanadas was disgusting- after 1 bite we sent them back. One of the steaks was cooked not to order – sent it back. They had both on the check thinking we would pay but we told them we wouldn’t pay for those 2 orders. They have some last walking around w a bowl of soup. I did not like it. Too salty. Doubt I will ever go back. Pricey and not worth the $$
