Found a gem in Bluejay Village near Lake Arrowhead. I read the positive reviews and decided to check it out. They offer an American gastropub-type menu with scratch-to-table items; including burgers, hot sandwiches, salads, and breakfast items, as well as vegan options.

They have mainly indoor seating, but there is also an outdoor front patio for warmer weather. There is a full bar serving local beers and craft cocktails. Art from local artists decorates the walls.

The food here is fantastic and the service is top notch. Everything is made-to-order and prepared from scratch so there can be a little bit of a wait for your food. This also means there can be longer seating wait times during busy dinner times so please go early and/or be patient. Trust me, the wait is worth it. Fortunately for us, we went during lunch on a slower day, but we were told we missed their busy time.

The blue cheese burger and pastrami were suggested to us by the very friendly server so we ordered those along with the hand-cut fries and homemade ketchup, a side salad, and an order of beignets (French, square donuts). We ordered these to go because we were full, but the server suggested to eat them while they were still warm and we are so glad she did because they were divine.

I enjoyed everything about this experience and will definitely visit again when in town. I am looking forward to the next visit!

I ordered the California burger and it was absolutely delicious. The bucket of fries were so crispy, just how I like them.

The place itself is also very welcoming. They have a few toys for those with little kids and, as I first time mom, who forgot her baby’s toys, it was a lifesaver.

The place is very cozy as well and you can tell the owner really cares about the local community. You can see art for sale and a handful of fliers promoting local events. Truly a gem.

A hidden gem! This place served me one the best veggie burgers I ever had in my life. They have so many good options on the menu, you cant go wrong with anything you order. My bubby had a chicken salad and said the chicken was AMAZING! The food is so fresh and arguably the best restaurant on the whole mountain. Bindy, was our server she was sweet!

We stopped in for dinner, grabbed to-go! They were absolutely amazing, even called that they forgot an item! Fantastic service, let us sit and even served waters while we waited! Its an adorable and beautiful art style tavern. Now to the food….WOW, first of all its 4 days later and my boyfriend hasn’t stopped raving about the pastrami burger, and the smokey flavored pastrami! The fries are to die for i am a fry lover and they seriously were even good cold crazy! I had a strawberry salad that was super yummy with a delicious homemade dressing, and the whipped hummus was super yummy perfectly satisfying! Next time we’re up we will stop here first!!!

We were so very disappointed. We’ve lived here many years and this is our favorite restaurant. Always such great food! So we decided to use our February “restaurant money” at Spade and Spatula last week.

Something had clearly gone south in the kitchen before we arrived. 45 minutes in, I realized a table of 4 had ordered before we arrived, had just been served. Ok, stuff happens. We ordered a patty melt and french dip and settled in for the wait. Again, stuff happens. We’re good.

However, when the food arrived…we were surprised. The roast beef was tough and beyond salty. The rare patty melt was so well done it crumbled. The fries were lukewarm. The dessert seemed frozen/defrosted/ Not made in house.

I rarely comment on anything like this but I’m hoping the owners see this and make the appropriate changes. This is where we want enjoy.

To be honest, when we walked in I didn’t know what to expect but the place had good reviews so I went with it…
Pleasantly surprised with the food! We ordered the veggie soup of the day and different sandwiches. All were equally delicious. And those fries were pretty close to amazing!
I would definitely recommend anyone in the area to stop by here and enjoy a good meal. The server was very nice and friendly as well!

We came from San Diego and local people where it’s worth eating, we didn’t expect this quality, service and taste!! 100/100!!!

What a joke. Came in at 11:00 with my spouse and a friend who had food allergies; both food options she chose the staff reported they were “out of” already. Ended up simply getting drinks, second-rate dusty tasting, with one of our 3 drinks getting mixed up (which led to a pregnant woman involuntarily drinking one with alcohol). The atmosphere was cold, dim and not enjoyable at all. The waitresses were aloof and distant. Definitely will not be coming back here to spend hard earned money on sub-par service and food. Better luck elsewhere.

Came here after trying to find vegan friendly food while visiting Lake Arrowhead. We tried two of the vegan burgers- they were made in house and SO GOOD. Also had to try the beignets- the strawberry sauce was vegan friendly!

Really pretty mural on the wall!

Mom got the vegan nuggets… They were overcooked but the fries were great.

Atmosphere was terrible. First you have gay flags shoved in your face all over right when you walk in. Way to be subtle guys…gals?
Then the waitresses are not friendly and are loudly talking with each other so it cuts into the atmosphere and your conversations.
