Let’s just say, I’m extremely impressed! Our server was amazing! She managed the table amazing, treated us so well! She had great recommendations! Probably the best service I have received in a long time at a restaurant!

Now the food. Equally as amazing. The filet was perfectly cooked to medium rare. So flavorful and delicious. The mash potatoes and veggies were both cooked great! Absolutely finished the entire plate. The cobbler was so good and paired amazing with the ice cream! We also got the pasta and it was super super delicious, just a smaller portion than expected, but I would still order it again!

I would highly recommend this place if you’re looking for semi fine dining!

This place has a really nice atmosphere. One side is bar seating and the other side is the restaurant. The staff was great, friendly and very knowledgeable. The wine list was phenomenal!!! I believe they only serve beer and wine. I’m sure they would be fine bringing kids. I highly recommend that they’re very well behaved kids. Everyone there that night were just small intimate parties of two to three people. I could definitely hear the bar side but I feel like it just helped the atmosphere. It was a very pleasant experience. We ordered appetizers entrees and desserts. I also ordered the Chevre salad. The lamb was great and the duck was amazing. I like that you can see the cooks and the chef preparing the dishes. We ordered quite a few desserts which you can see in the pics! There was just two of us… But I’ll splurge on a good dessert!! And every dessert we had was absolutely wonderful!!

This place is a Gem! Went here for Date night and got a wonderful horseshoe table on the side. Started with the flatbread and brie. The Brie was absolutely perfect. The wood fired pizza oven made an excellent flatbread. She ordered the Schnitzel and said it was authentic and very tasty. Lingonberry, and the Dill sauce were standout’s. I had the pasta special. A very light and not spicy version of a Italian take on chipotle cream sauce with grilled chicken and rigatoni. It was packed full of flavo. You can tell the Head Chef has skills and training. And frankly for the price the food was excellent value. Presentation excellent. Probably one of the top 5 sit down restaurants in Anchorage. Will go again and try the Veal Tenderloin.

I do not understand what people see in this place. My husband’s steak was cold. The portions of my and my son’s pasta dish was paltry. For a place with a chicken logo there wasn’t even a chicken dish on the menu. There were not many choices and the prices were ridiculous for what you get. My friends all speak highly of this place but I just don’t get it.

Roads were bad out to Girdwood for Double Musky, so we decided to eat out in town. I called Southside Bistro before we headed over to see if they did walk ins at all. They said they did. When we got there it took a bit to actually be greeted, we were asked by another worker if we had been helped yet before the hostess even acknowledged us. This was our 1st time here. We were told wait was about 40min for a table or could wait for the bar. After waiting about 10min a server at the bar asked us if we knew and wanted to sit at an open table in the bar area. We had no idea there was more than just the bar seats as an option. Calamari overall was great, clam chowder I wouldn’t order again(flavor was not there), my rockfish with mushrooms on top was amazing(rice with it was meh though), the filet mignon was delicious (veggies and presentation was sad). For main dishes the sides seem as an after thought. Server was very nice, just slow and didn’t refill drinks more than once. I had to ask for boxes and check. Dessert we did to go was just decent, sauce and whip cream were not matching for flavor. For how much we paid I expected better overall.

Cozy feel, excellent service, and even better food! Highly recommend the veal medallions and the filet! Falafel appetizer special they were running at the time was also to die for!

Exquisite. Had an appetizer and 1 dessert item, both had incredible smell and flavor. Photos speak for themselves ! Sat at the bar and noticed all the Servers had good attitudes towards one another even when one was starting to worry about an order. This is a fine dining experience with an open kitchen view to the right and a wine bar with additional seating to the left. Come here for those classy one on one dates or just a good savory bite to eat after a long day.

Another tired Anchorage restaurant.

Oysters were big & meaty. But one had a piece of shell and one had large pieces of grit. Even if they had been cleaned properly, they were the worst tasting oysters I have ever had.

Wedge salad was fine but let’s be real, a two-year-old could make one and it’s hard to mess up. Bolognese is often a heavy gut busting dish so I was happy that this one was light. But it lacked any punch and the usual depth of flavor. Also the fresh pappardelle weren’t separated from one another so the texture turned gummy.

Service was abominable. The server didn’t know where the oysters were sourced so I stopped asking questions. We had to wait more than 10 minutes to place our order, it took more than 15 minutes for our salads to arrive after the appetizer was done, we didn’t get checked on during the appetizer or salad courses, we were literally taking our last bite of the main course when we were asked how we were doing, we had to wait more than 15 minutes to have our plates cleared. The server spent lots of time at her other tables chatting with guests but completely ignored us all night, she didn’t even stop walking when she did talk to us.

We come here for mother’s day and my mother’s birthday every year and she comes more often than that because it’s her favourite restaurant.

But tonight was so bad I know I will never step foot in there again and my mother was also very disappointed. We were looking forward to dessert before the meal but decided just to get the hell out.

Relaxed atmosphere. I was hungry coming here but was not completely impressed with the food. I did enjoy the weathervane scallops and the risotto cake was delicious but everything else seemed lacking in taste. Tuna tartare was overly light. The duck was good but the portion was too small. Lamb fell of the bone but the sauce was a bit unimaginative. For a $130 dinner, I was expecting more flavor. Overall experience was satisfactory. Service was ok.

The wait was worth every morsel! My Honey had enjoyed a meal here last summer and couldn’t stop raving about the oysters and steak. Anticipation has been building for months and Southside Bistro delivered good on his hype. We made it a point to make this our first stop off on our Anniversary trip and it was nothing short of perfect. The environment is suitable for any grouping. A mother enjoyed a meal with her younger child, gal pals were catching up at the bar over wine, groups were celebrating birthdays, and we were on a date. Staff is everything staff should be; effortlessly. The food was incredible — I ordered the salmon (and I’m a commercial salmon fisherman; so very picky on it being cooked correctly) and he ordered the bison bourguignon. The food could have stood alone to earn SB 5 stars, but as part of the overall ambience and experience — I truly wish I could give a perfect 10.
