I recently had my wedding reception at Southern Strain Brewery and it was one of the best decisions I made. From the start, Tabitha was so helpful and communicated with me through the whole process. The food and drinks were delicious! I was offered many options to choose from on their catering menu, making it easy for me and my husband to make sure we had tasty food but also staying within our budget. I cannot thank Tabitha and the staff at Southern Strain enough for all their help and hard work, they went above and beyond to make sure our night was great. If you are looking for the next place to host an event, small or large- I can’t recommend this place enough!

It has been well over a year since I have been here. Shame on me! The libations are delicious! Highly recommend the draught cocktails! The eatery has a satisfying array of food choices to satisfy a hungry appetite! Just YUM! It did take a while to get our food, but it was fresh and hot, and we kept ourselves entertained while waiting. Music Bingo on Wednesday evenings added to the dining experience. Making plans to return in a few weeks with friends.

Hidden gem alert!
From the moment I walked in, I fell in love with this old mill that has been transformed into a brewery, eatery, coffee place and Vintage shopping.
Tabatha greeted me as soon as I walked in, and I also got to meet Jasmine who helps runs the eatery. Both of these ladies have a genuine warmth and hospitality about them that makes you feel so comfortable.
There is a special vibe in this mill & you can tell the employees love working here.
Ty thoughtfully made me the Chimi Chimi bowl to try & it was packed with flavor & left me wanting to come back & try more off their menu. On Sundays, they have a jazz brunch from 11-2 that’s worth checking out!
They also have a space you can rent out—for weddings or graduations—maybe even a business networking thing.
They also collaborate with liquid voyage, a company that offers bringing a bar to any of your events. Annie, shared a photo with me of their sweet camper. I love how Southern Stain supports other local businesses in the community.
I’m looking forward to sharing this hidden gem with my neighbors in the town of Davidson.

Sweet Dreams
The burger was really good. Service was great. Hot pretzel wasn’t my favorite, a little over fried. The French fries were cooked well but needed salt or some flavor. It’s big inside so you don’t feel crowded. Lots of places to sit and two arcade machines.

This is the Best Brewery in North Carolina in my opinion!! I might be partial though,since I can walk there if I want to. The Beer is award winning from brewer Bart Roberts and Chef Carrie is always whipping up some unbelievable cuisine at the Eatery!! I highly recommend this place!! It has a wonderful atmosphere and is very Family friendly!!

10/10 one of the best breweries in North Carolina. Outstanding craft beer, with a wide variety from light to hazy to dark. Relaxed atmosphere. Fantastic service. Live jazz on Sundays. Wonderful small craft kitchen. You really can’t beat it.

Sept 2025 Update – Used to absolutely love their burgers and had 5 stars across the board. However the last 4-5 times we have gone the quality and taste of the food has just continued to go down. This last time was our official last time eating here. The burger was burnt and dry, the tobacco onions were a clump of mush, bacon barely there, the burger lacked overall flavor compared to what it used to have, the fries were lackluster on their seasoning. And to top it off, they raised the price of the burger to an additional $4, so now it’s $19!! That’s high quality pricing for subpar food. So sadly, just not anywhere near worth going to anymore. 🙁 Makes me incredibly sad because we loved it so much before.
Original – I don’t come here for the beer because I don’t drink but I come here often for the food!! I absolutely LOVE their Southern Drawl Burger and their fries and ranch are amazing! So worth coming to for just the food and it is a nice atmosphere to sit and eat.

Love this location! You can enjoy vintage shopping at Nothing New and then refuel with amazing food and drinks at Southern Strain. The vegetable medley includes sweet potatoes and it’s delicious!
