Wowie! What great soul food. The daily special was fried chicken with 3 sides. The chicken was moist and tender. Arguably the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. We also had rice, collard greens, field beans. And macaroni and cheese. Everything was delicious. The staff was welcoming and helpful. We will be back.

This was the best meal! I had the bream fried hard and it was done right!! Husband had the pork chop meal. We both had rice and beans with gravy and green beans. He also got the cheesecake. EVERYTHING was homemade and served with a smile. And everything was so clean! Can’t recommend this family run restaurant highly enough!

Tucked away on a quiet corner lot, this spot is truly a gem off the beaten path. The atmosphere is calm and cozy, with a smaller dining room that carries a real down-home feel. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the food hit the spot.
I ordered the fried pork chops with plantains, cabbage, and potato salad—each bite was flavorful and comforting. I had my heart set on trying the macaroni and cheese, but they were out (a sign it must be popular and worth the return trip).
The sweet tea deserves its own spotlight—strong, brewed just right, and country sweet. Honestly, it gave me that nostalgic feeling like they should have some fresh, cold Kool-Aid in the back, too, but the tea definitely held its own.
Parking is decent thanks to the corner location, and while it may be a bit out of the way, it’s absolutely worth the detour. If it’s your first visit, enjoy. If you’ve tried this place before, it’s time to head back! This place is a solid recommendation. Don’t sleep on it.

We stopped by Southern Soul on our way south and let me just say Wow! The food is amazing! The fried chicken was perfectly seasoned and moist and delicious. The green beans are so tasty! My husband had the neck bones, rice with gravy, collards, and field peas. He didn’t leave even a tiny morsel on that dish – he ate every bit. The employees were very friendly and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful Sunday dinner!

My son I love this place. Most of the time when we come to Denmark we stop here. The Southern soul food is always delicious. The customer service skills are always on point. The cashier and the owners are always pleasant. The atmosphere is very welcoming.

I would like to start off by staying, I loved the restaurants atmosphere because as soon as I walked in, I was greeted and treated just like family. This is not a review to tear down this business but to give my honest opinion.
I ordered baked chicken, rice and greens. My companion ordered oxtails rice , green bean and macaroni. The plates were full.
The baked chicken was not indeed baked, it was more of a smoked or grilled flavor. The inside of the thigh was pink and rubbery. The rice appeared to be minute rice from out of a box & the greens tasted as they had been cooked days before and reheated over and over. The oxtails were more bone and fat than meat. & the macaroni was hard as a rock.
I feel as though, this shouldn’t have happened. Please take more time to increase the quality of the food. I will not be back at this establishment but I felt it was my duty to write an accurate review because I read all of the current reviews and this is what caused me to dine here. Denmark is a very small town with not many food options. so, I can see why lots of people here seem to be satisfied with their meal, but from someone who cooks soul food & have been to plenty of other soul food spots in other states, this just was not it.
