Our first experience here was excellent! The food was outstanding everything tasted freshly made and full of authentic Southern flavor. The portions were very generous, making the slightly higher prices well worth it. You can really tell that everything is made from scratch with care and attention to detail.
The oxtails were tender and seasoned perfectly, the Salisbury steak was rich and flavorful, and the fried catfish was crispy and well balanced. The sides complemented the entrées beautifully especially the creamy corn and garlic mashed potatoes, which were both delicious. But the real standout was the cornbread absolutely incredible! Moist, buttery, and perfectly baked you can tell no corners were cut.
Service was prompt and friendly, and even though we ordered takeout, everything was packaged neatly and traveled well. Overall, this was a great dining experience, and we’ve definitely found a new go-to spot to revisit!

I’ve eaten here before and only had the oxtails. I decided to purchase the loaded seafood potato about a month ago and didn’t really like the brown sauce. Today I purchased the loaded steak and cheese potato and it was HORRIBLE!
The potato literal was cooked a week ago and reheated to the point that the skin was uneatable, rubbery like leather!
The potato was grey in color, just disgusting. For $22 I expect better! My family and I have eaten here before but never again!

OMGGGG when I say , they are the BEST IN TOWN . The BEST IN THE STATE OF TEXAS ACTUALLY…. If you’re looking for some southern food soul food this is the place to go . I have tried almost the whole menu. I’ve been in Texas 4 years and I’m from Louisiana and I been looking all over and I’ve finally found my home food cooking. Those jerk lamb chops, meatloaf , garlic mash potatoes, fried pork chops , smothered steak , smothered chicken, southern collard greens with hammocks , the seafood loaded potato so much to choose from and you won’t be disappointed in anything you choose. If you’re in Forney Texas pls stop by and grab you a bite 100000000/10

LISTEN – These people know how to make some OXTAIL!! (in my island accent lol) They go toe to toe with the Brunch Room’s oxtails lol. The braised beef was delish and tender as well! The collards, creamed corn w/ bacon, and bread pudding all had the right flavors! Can’t wait to try more on their menu

It is absolutely mind blowing how amazing everything is/was!! Sunday 2-16-25 my husband and I found this establishment. Initially we were going to THE BRUNCH BISTRO but sadly they had 1 1/2 hr wait time. I told my husband everything happens for a reason. Today was not meant for us to be here. We called this establishment and they had no wait time… So we were on thee way. We were puzzled pulling up to the building but then we eventually found it. If you are facing the building, it is on the left. This is not a restaurant setting. It is a order and to go or you can sit in the seating area that is provided for you in a little Court. We found that to be okay because once we looked at their menu and your nose starts smelling the aroma of this fabulous place, you want to be home eating this food. We ordered oxtails, baked chicken, creamy corn, collard greens, green beans, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, bread pudding, cornbread, and last but not least peach cobbler. Everything was on point 10 out of 10…. Nothing wasted!! The drive from Dallas and the $$ was all worth it. We will be returning!!!! Y’all deserve all the blessings!!!!

First time visiting since they opened at the OC. We use to frequent their other location a few years ago. Well our order took about 45mins to be ready, we ordered the chicken sandwich and it was missing the coleslaw, only chicken and bread on the sandwich, so I go to the counter and ask which they ran out so I instead ask for lettuce & tomato. Then I realized they didn’t give ranch for our wings so I go back to the counter. Well once I was ready for my sandwich, there were hard burnt crisps in about half the sandwich. I didn’t want to go back to the counter again at that point. We left disappointed and my husband said never coming back.

This was our first time there. There were four of us, two couples. Me and my husband, his cousin and her husband.
They’re doing big things here. They have provided an amazing opportunity for the students in the community to work with businesses to learn career and lifelong lessons in a safe, controlled environment.
The ordering process was quick and easy from a very pleasant young lady. My husband and I shared the seafood gumbo and the oxtails with rice. Both were tasty. The gumbo didn’t look the gumbos I’m used to, but it tasted like it . Very good with a little heat. The oxtails were SO tender, my goodness.
I got the fruit punch Kool-aid to wash it down. It hit the spot for sure. For dessert (to enjoy later), I chose the peach cobbler. I was too full to take a bite.
We had the pleasure of meeting the proprietor of the establishment. (Please forgive me, her name escapes me ). She was friendly and seemed genuinely appreciative for the patronage.
In summary, I would highly encourage people to go and support the Southern Social Eatery. By supporting them you will also be supporting the next generation of chefs they are mentoring and enjoy the delicious food they are serving.

I had the fried pork chops and the loaded fries. The flavor of both was amazing. The food is a little more pricey than other places at the OC but well worth the extra cost. I’m already thinking about other things that I want to try when I go back. All the food is scratch made. Adding a few more pictures. The mac-n-cheese is probably the best I have ever tasted. The corn cake is cornbread with butter and honey (amazing).
