Although when the food is good, it is really good. They do have some off days. But what I’m addressing is the professionalism. I wanted them to cater a wedding for me. I wanted to support their business. Very, very unprofessional.!! Black businesses need to do better.!!! So I went to the website and sent a message through the Lil messenger symbol. I waited a week. No response. I went back in and sent another message. I waited a week and no response. I went back to the site and found the email I emailed waited a few days and no response. I called to leave them a voicemail. The voicemail was full. I waited to call during business hours. I spoke with a lady named Jody. She said the website was under the construction. I Told her they should post that on the website so people won’t waste their time for several weeks like I did. She gave me another email address and assured me that that was the correct address and that she would respond to give me a quote. I emailed the address and guess what? No response. I’m done.

The white meat fried chicken was moist and delicious. The candied yams, wonderful. The greens had a smooth kick. The cornbread was tender and tasty. We will visit again.

Cold catfish, small portions, and high price. The flavor was good, but the service could use some work. When I want soul food in the future I’ll just go to Great Giant for hot food in portions that I paid for.

Amazing comfort foods! We had the fried chicken and the fried pork chops. We do not live in GR, but will come back for the hot water cornbread patties, collard greens, candied yam, cabbage, and homemade cornbread dressing. Looking fwd to trying their oxtails next time—Sundays only.

I have only ate a few places for soul food so Between Candied yam and the food at the Great giant – I’m going to pick Southern smoke every time. We have been a handful of times and one time the sides were a bit overly seasoned but it was just that one time. (The collard greens, to be specific.) Other than that, I haven’t had any other issues. Staff is very friendly and welcoming.

The food reminds me of my childhood. It is the stuff that made Sunday after church dinner so special! And we are blessed to be able to have it here in our area. All the comfort food you need is here. I ordered the fried chicken dinner with my two sides of greens and mac n’ cheese and a corn muffin. My husband ordered turkey knuckles with gravy. He chose spaghetti and Cabbage as his two sides. He opted for the hot water cornbread. We decided to eat on site. My husband said the turkey knuckles and gravy were very flavorful. He was happy with his sides too. I haven’t eaten chicken this good since my momma passed. My sides were just delicious. I had the homemade raspberry ice tea. I encourage you to try this. Get a large because it is that good. We’ll be back for sure!

My wife asked me to go with her because she loves Southern Smoke but I’m a picky eater and it wasn’t nothing special honestly. I got the fried chicken, mac & cheese, and candied yams. The chicken definitely gave me a home cooked feeling but the mac & cheese was a little dry and bland plus the yams wasn’t sweet enough to my liking. Excellent service & customer service up until checkout though so I definitely support this establishment and its future upcoming.

As a cross country trucker my time is crazy and I was always getting back on the wrong days. Well, it was definitely worth the wait to eat here!

I was really excited to give this place a try. I must say the customer service is GREAT! The food on the other hand not so great. I ordered a fried pork chop dinner with dressing and Mac n cheese and I added a smothered pork chop on the side, a fried chicken dinner with spaghetti and Mac n cheese and a smothered turkey knuckle dinner with greens and dressing. The fried pork chop was not done, it is a thick piece of meat that needed about 5 more minutes in the fryer. The fried chicken was very dry. The macaroni was old and dry, the dressing was SO dry. The greens had big stems in them. The peach cobbler was what I was really hoping to be the savior of my meal, nope, it was a bowl of mush! I ordered the sweet potato pie but I didn’t feel the need to even try it. I think it would benefit this place to Cook less food more often to keep it fresh.
