We had an absolutely incredible experience in downtown Jamestown—this place is a true hidden gem!
The atmosphere alone is worth the visit. From the cozy, stylish interior to the beautiful patio with heaters and a fireplace, the ambiance is one of the best we’ve experienced. It’s the perfect mix of relaxed and upscale.
Now let’s talk about the food… WOW.
I had the Grilled Chicken Pasta, and it was phenomenal—tender grilled chicken tossed with pasta in a rich, creamy parmesan-style sauce with just the right amount of seasoning. Every bite was flavorful and perfectly balanced.
My husband ordered the Lunch Cajun NC Catfish, and it was just as impressive—cornmeal-dusted and fried to perfection with a crispy coating, served with a delicious lime caper tartar sauce and two sides. You could tell everything was fresh and made with care.
The service was absolutely perfect—friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home without being overbearing.
If you’re anywhere near Jamestown, NC, do yourself a favor and stop here. Between the incredible food, top-notch service, and amazing atmosphere, this place is a must visit. We will definitely be back!

Had a good time at Southern Roots. It’s a beautiful space with plenty of natural light which was great and well needed for our lunch.
We ordered the chicken quesadilla and a grilled chicken panini and both were pretty good. They had a ton of flavor and were really fresh. My friend had the caesar salad and she absolutely loved it.
The service was also great. Our server was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our lunch.
Overall I had a good experience. I would definitely return to try more items on the menu.

Dinner at Southern Roots was excellent. The food and service were both great, with good portion sizes and reasonable prices. The atmosphere was relaxed with dim lighting, and there is a bar with beer taps, wine, and mixed drinks. I was seated right away, but later there was a wait for tables, so it is clearly a popular spot. The service was well paced and unhurried. There is a parking lot, but it is small and fills up quickly. I would definitely return.

The lunch here today was delicious. The waiter was great as well. The cornbread appetizer was good only if you added that amazing honey butter and that gravy was good too. Just wish the cornbread itself had flavor so the toppings would compliment the flavor of the cornbread. I liked the bourbon sauce with the steak. Mashed potatoes and green beans were good as well. Today was such a beautiful day to sit outside and enjoy lunch at this place! Can’t wait to try other dishes.

My dad has praised this restaurant for a while now so I finally decided to come along with him and I was not disappointed! The restaurant’s design is rustic modern and very nicely built! I ordered the snapper meal with grits and a salad. The snapper was seared well and very flavorful! The grits and salad also parred well with the meal. Our server Brandy took great care of us and helped my dad take all his pictures to have of our trip! When we’re in the area we’ll definitely be returning!

The food was on point!!! We got the duck and pulled pork. The onion pie was the star of the show. But I wouldn’t be remiss if I didn’t mention how amazing the cornbread is with the chicken gravy. Sooooooo good! Fair warning though, the parking is challenging and it does get very loud if the restaurant is full. But worth the trip!!

I actually came out to this restaurant to do some work, the atmosphere here is very open, friendly, and relaxed. The restaurant owner is a hard worker and is always being a part of the team, there’s not one time I came and didn’t see her involved in creating a great experience for the customers from the kitchen to the floor. I was offered a meal here and decided to get the sweet & spicy chicken sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. Food was very delicious and fresh! I respect hard work and this restaurant deserves some more attention & love.

Asya, the dynamo behind the bar, was super efficient and friendly as we raced in for dinner at the end of the night. She even gave us tips to reheat our carry out dessert! Great cornbread and pulled pork.

Southern roots is always a hit. Today was the first time I went for lunch and I was so happily surprised! They had plenty of lunch portions for great prices. I got the flat iron steak with Brussels and cheese grits for only $12.50! I also loved the new mocktail menu! While I love a cocktail in the evening the mocktail was so refreshing and perfect for a spring lunch! Overall I am always impressed with the service and consistency at Southern Roots and am constantly recommending it to anyone in the area!

This place is a wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, the service is prompt and courteous, and the food is delicious and varied. They always have special dishes that surprise and delight us. It is a very popular place among the locals, so be prepared to call in advance to check on seating status, especially on weekends or during the furniture market season. The only downside is that parking can fill up fast and require you to park further away, so plan accordingly. We highly recommend this place if you can get a table.
