Had an excellent meal for my daughter’s birthday at the Southern Inn Restaurant. This is the second time eating here and both times have been a great experience. The food was perfectly prepared and tasted great. We ordered the lamb meatballs for an appetizer to share. For our mains we had shrimp & grits, grilled salmon, duck breast, and the special of the day, seared tuna. We all sampled each other’s plate and every one was very well prepared and cooked as requested. I highly recommend making a reservation as even on a Wednesday, it was quite busy. Great choice when dining in Lexington.

My sister in law had her rehearsal dinner at the restaurant. The staff is phenomenal and very attentive to guests needs. Food was also delicious. Hope to have the opportunity to stop in for dinner during regular hours. Right in the heart of historic Lexington. Super cool place, friendly staff, and good food…what else could you ask for!! Thank you!!

Made a reservation today (01-17-21) for brunch and my first visit to Southern Inn. Southern Inn is one of only two restaurants in Lexington currently serving brunch (Tonic being the other.) There’s a warm atmosphere inside which made a nice first impression – we were sat at a table on the bar side of the restaurant, which I preferred to the main room. My date and I started our meal with two Bloody Marys featuring Southern Inn’s in-house mix, which I feel like could have used more spice, but were balanced a bit by the seasonings used to line the glasses. Garnishes were an olive and a lime, plus dilly beans, which are not something that I’d put in Bloody Marys that I mixed myself, but I understand they’re a generally accepted Bloody Mary ingredient. (I prefer spicy pickled okra.) Our server also brought complimentary muffins to the table, three different ones – two of which were cranberry as blueberry respectively. Our entrees: I had the omelette, which is vegetarian friendly (I’m not a vegetarian) containing red pepper, mushrooms, onion, spinach, and paired with bacon and home fries. Bacon could have been a bit more substantially cut and crispier – the place is called *Southern* Inn after all – and the home fries were adequate, but I’ve discovered that finding truly delicious and well seasoned home fries in a restaurant can be a challenge. My date ordered the Eggs Benedict, which I believe is traditionally served on an English muffin, but is prepared on Brioche toast here at the Southern Inn. Her dish also included country ham, which I sampled, and in my opinion could be a thicker cut and more “cured” – if that makes any sense. Country ham to me needs to be almost overly salty. Her only issue with the dish were that the eggs could have been a bit runnier, and just looking at them, I would agree. I’ve always been under the impression that the point was that the yoke was meant to coat/soak into the bread. The flavor though from my sample, was on point. Overall, an enjoyable first time here at the Southern Inn and look forward to giving them a try for lunch and dinner (and more brunches) in the future.

We literally stumbled upon this marvelous restaurant on a locals recommendation. The hostess was sweet and charming… But Miss Whitney made my birthday dinner extra special. She was attentive and personal yet professional at the same time. The food was fabulous like we’ve never tasted before! Highly recommend this charming establishment tucked in downtown!

Best food in 5 states. Great server. Great menue. Excellent deserts. Nice wine list. Moderate by the glass prices. Depending upon what you order $$ to $$$$. Expert tip…try and get the table nearest to the kitchen, it has a big picture window, so if your a foodie…you can watch your entire meal from scratch.

The food was very tasty and the staff super friendly.

We ordered the chicken fried steak and waffles off the brunch menu and the fried chicken off the lunch menu.

Both dishes came out warm but would have been better if they were hot. Not sure why fried steak and chicken would come out warm, since fried dishes usually come out piping hot.

The pecan pie was delicious.

We were lucky enough to pick up a no-shows reservation on a Friday evening. Service was slow, but we weren’t in a rush. I really enjoyed the burger, it had great flavor and was cooked perfectly.

The staff were accommodating and displayed the southern charm. Service was great and our food came out in a timely fashion. I got the chicken penne pasta andy girlfriend got the fried chicken. Both entrees were delicious. Their sweet tea is really good as well. We did make reservations since this was suggested. We went to dinner at 7:30 pm on a Saturday night in June and the restaurant was busy.

Excellent food and excellent service. Very reasonable prices for the food and the atmosphere. The pork tenderloin eggs Benedict was fantastic. And the hibiscus mimosa was a wonderful accompaniment to brunch. I would definitely recommend a visit here.
