I ordered the shrimp and grits with an over-easy egg, and it was seriously good. The portion was huge—so big that I ended up splitting it with my husband and still felt more than satisfied.
The grits were creamy, smooth, and had just the right amount of cheddar mixed in. The texture was perfect—rich without being heavy. I loved the contrast between the smoky diced bacon and the crunchy bits of jalapeño, which gave the dish a nice balance of flavor and texture.
The Cajun cream sauce, combined with the jalapeño, added just the right amount of heat—enough to be interesting but not overwhelming. And the shrimp were cooked exactly right: plump, bouncy, and with that satisfying little snap when you bite into them.
This is the kind of comfort food that’s done really well and totally worth ordering.

Southern Belle’s in Barrington is fantastic! The portions are huge, the ingredients are super fresh, and everything came out piping hot, which is exactly how it should be. The pancakes were honestly some of the best I’ve ever had, and with such a big menu, there’s truly something for everyone. Great value, great food, and I’ll definitely be coming back!

This started with the question “Are Cinnabomb pancakes delicious?” The answer is yes!
Southern Belle has one of the best breakfasts I have eaten. They have a wide variety of pancake, skillet and omelette options. They make their own butter and serve real maple syrup.
The staff are very personable and knowledgeable about the various dishes and my server actually ate there on her days off with her daughter. She was able to make excellent recommendations about add-ons that I could make to my dish to get even more deliciousness.
Very family friendly.
This place is a definite must do.

Unsanitary conditions. They do not clean their fruit properly nor does the BOH wear gloves when handling food. Received blueberries with FINGERPRINTS on them indicating they were grabbed with bare hands and were not properly washed.
They also do not serve real maple syrup, they put high fructose pancake syrup in a real maple syrup glass bottle. This is surprising since they already try to upcharge for everything (swapping berries for fruit, swapping side pancakes for French toast, even though they are both 11.99 on the menu), you’d think they’d want to offer real maple syrup for an upcharge.

I had forgotten how wonderful this place is until I returned after about a year, and it didn’t disappoint! The ambiance is beautiful, creating a perfect spot for a relaxing brunch. Though we were told the wait would be 30 minutes, we were seated in just 15. The service is always quick and efficient. We ordered the vegetable omelette and the garden skillet, which came with a soft, fresh biscuit that was absolutely delicious. The freshly brewed coffee was excellent and paired perfectly with the meal. To top it off, we ended with their pancakes, which were a great way to finish. The whole experience, especially on a lovely Sunday morning, was just delightful. Our server was friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. Overall, this place continues to be a go-to spot for a quick, satisfying, and memorable brunch!

This was my third visit, and unfortunately the first time I left disappointed. We ordered the cornbread sliders special and the chicken and waffles, but both dishes fell short. The cornbread was hard and overly dry, while the chicken and waffles lacked flavor and moisture. I’ve had better experiences here before, so I hope this was just an off day in the kitchen.

Southern Belle’s in Barrington has a charming, homey vibe, and our server was friendly. The menu looked tempting, but the Stacked Biscuit with fried chicken was a letdown. The biscuits were incredibly dry, and I usually love biscuits and gravy, but this wasn’t it. I wasn’t happy about having to ask for extra gravy when the dish is called biscuits and gravy. Shouldn’t there be enough gravy to begin with? The dry biscuits made the whole meal less enjoyable, and it was disappointing that a classic dish like biscuits and gravy wasn’t executed better.

Go here!! I’ve tried almost every breakfast joint in a 15 mile radius and this is one of the best. Plenty of free parking around the area. More interesting brunch choices than just your standard diner type food.
5 stars for their bonuts (omg – came fresh and warm, so fluffy but with a nice denseness) and their shrimp and grits. The flavor of the shrimp and grits is awesome with a good kick to the Cajun cream sauce. Coffee is just ok but I do appreciate they gave us the thermos for our table. They have a bunch of other interesting brunch items so we definitely will be back to try others! Highly recommend!

Me and my sister and my brother-in-law we went to Southern Belle on a Sunday before the memorial day. It was around 1:30 PM when we reached the restaurant and first per empty because we were too late for branch. It took us about 30 minutes to just find the parking as there was a art fest going on. We were seated and ANNA was our server we ordered coffee asked for fresh juice, same they didn’t have any fresh juice. I ordered avocado pesto Benedict which Anna told that it’s gonna be really good. My sister ordered a Panini veggie Panini, which was not on the menu so she asked her to put some veggies and make a Panini which again Anna was very kind to get that accommodated. And my brother-in-law ordered chicken wrap in the meanwhile we are waiting for the food and I got us complimentary Bonuts, something that southern Belle have on their menu. Everything was really good. We enjoyed our branch, but the best part was Anna was really sweet and had a smiling personality and she was something who knew what’s exactly in the restaurant kitchen and what exactly they can make for us and very accommodating. She definitely needs recognition so if the business owner or the manager reached this review, she should be recognized or even given a raise thank you
