We love this area of Aiken and ride on our motorcycles from Columbia on adventure. Mixed feelings on Southbound. Ordered Uncle John’s chicken salad sandwich with Mac and cheese. Mac and cheese awesome, bread on the sandwich awesome… the actual chicken salad, very bland. Also had the Southbound burger with fries. Fries awesome, bun was awesome but the actual burger and pulled pork was bland and the whole burger is small. Arby’s has much more flavor. I’m sure the quality of the ingredients are better at Southbound… but the blandness, small portions and high prices has crossed this place off my list permanently. Waitress and overall service was great, atmosphere great. Food not worth half of what I paid.

Our group, about twenty members of the Class of 1985, began our 40th year class reunion here. The service, the food, the entertainment, the vibe…everything was AWESOME! The musician toasted our class during his set, several times. He says he performs at all type of events. I had one too many Tito’s to remember his name…but I have a video of him singing Purple Rain On a Friday and I’m sure Saturday nights, this is the SPOT!

Took 12 minutes to get service slow Friday. Not enough silver ware for two. Wings were dry and not non point. Hamburger was dry. Fries were good. Ten wings one dipping sauce. One and done for us.

First time coming in, right away we loved the music and atmosphere. We were disappointed with the seating, the bar height chairs were all ripped to shreds and we both fell into our chairs because there was no longer support in the seat. Other than that the food was good, came out timely and the portion size was just right so we didn’t feel over stuffed. Their sauces are fantastic! Will go again, but we will ask for a booth instead.

We tried this new restaurant and were very pleased with our experience! We were seated in the outdoor area, which is fully heated and very comfortable. The atmosphere is amazing! Our server was great and took care of us throughout the entire meal, as well as afterwards as we sat and chatted and listened to the live music that was offered when we were there. The food was super tasty and the ribs were some of the best I’ve had in this area. Prices were very reasonable (about $26 for a full rack of ribs and one side dish). The ribs were very smoky flavored and tender and juicy with sauce choices offered on the side. I highly recommend trying this new place. It is located in The Alley area of downtown Aiken, and is a perfect spot for a great dinner.

Very disappointing experience at Southbound Smokehouse. Service was fine, but the food was terrible. The nachos were so salty they were inedible, the grilled chicken and green beans had zero flavor, and the kids’ boneless wings were only three tiny pieces — our 2-year-old finished them in two minutes. Paying $60–$70 for a meal this bad and with such poor portions is unacceptable. Definitely not coming back.

We were so excited to try this Smokehouse! We sat on the back patio and loved the vibe. Our server was less than friendly; he seemed generally annoyed by our presence or maybe that was just his demeanor. He barely spoke to us, vaped behind the bar, spilled one of our drinks as he handed it to us and just left it on the table with no napkins in sight. He came over as few times as possible. The mixed drinks were yummy, thankfully. The food was NOT. Pulled pork tasted like vinegar. The smoked chicken was rubbery and seemed reminiscent of cheap rotisserie chicken from any run of the mill grocery store with zero smoked flavor. The mac and cheese was fine and the only thing I ate on my plate. The shrimp tacos were very fishy with little other flavor. Our kids got chicken strips which were the only things served hot and tasted fine. The server did not at all care that our food was left uneaten, nor asked us how anything was. I did tell him the chicken was not very good, with no response from him.
There is potential for this place to be amazing with the location and the setup but it was just disappointing.

My family of 4 visited the restaurant late yesterday afternoon. After a full day of moving our oldest daughter, our other daughter chose this restaurant for dinner. Let me just say HIGHLY disappointed. I have added a picture of my half eaten sandwich that I kept trying to see if it would get better. NOPE! Hash and rice??? What is the diced pork with an over load of pepper. The sandwich tasted like pure liquid smoke. The eggroll appetizer had absolutely no favor. The wait staff sitting outside as we walked up and entered the building. As leaving, they were all sitting around on their phones. Not worth the $100+ bill for a family of 4. Less just say, we will not be returning! Great vibe and location but leaves a lot to desire.
