When passing through Paris I wanted a local place for breakfast and this came up as the first/closest recommendation. It is the perfect local small business spot. It would be easy to miss as you drive by but glad I sought it out. My only quibble was the hash browns. Not just cold, but had the taste of being leftovers. Not a hash brown fan to start with so not a deal breaker. Loved that they knew their regulars and took time to chat with everyone.

We stopped at this “hole in the wall” looking place after watching the eclipse, in the hopes we could get some good southern lunch. We could not be more impressed! It is an old facility, so don’t expect it to look pretty or new. The food was so good though! I highly recommend the chicken fried steak, and the peach cobbler too. Do not skip the dinner rolls, some of the best I have ever had.
The service was friendly, with authentic “Southern Hospitality”.
Prices were very reasonable too.
Summary: Don’t let the run-down appearance fool you. If you are ever in Paris, TX, you have to eat here!

Quaint mom and pop restaurant that serves great home cooked food. If you are looking for a deal try their daily lunch special. Three options for main course, several options for sides (you get to choose three), plus bread, tea and a dessert.

There’s a place in every old town in Texas where you can get breakfast and lunch and feel like you went back in time 30 years. This is that place. This is where the old time locals eat. The prices are dirt cheap, the service is fast and friendly, and the food tastes great. Don’t expect a lot of amenities or a fancy dining room. There is one restroom that you literally have to cut through the kitchen to get to and yes there will be a few flies buzzing around. But this is the kind of place that I will seek out if I’m looking for breakfast.

What a great find!!! Big pancakes, eggs cooked perfectly and BACON! This local establishment may not look like much on the outside but they know breakfast!! Friendly & fast service. I’ll definitely be back.
I looked at the lunch menu while there and it includes dishes like: fried catfish, enchiladas, chicken fried steak and gravy or roast beef. That’s too bad because I won’t be hungry!!

I’ve never been to the restaurant/cafe there. I’m not actually writing a review of the restaurant. So why am I writing this “review”.
Let me tell you a little story about that “building” before it was a cafe.
My grandmother used to live in a big white house right across the street and about 500 ft north of where the Spea’s Vinegar plant used to be which, was directly across the street from the cafe building.
It used to be a Mobile Gas Station and the owner/manager and his family lived upstairs in the big brick building over the indoor part of the station. I believe their name was Caveness.
I would hang out there when I was a small boy (probably between 9 and 13 years old and visiting my grandmother. Her name was Monte Wright. She and her husband (John Wright) raised four boys in that house. I am their grandson Larry Wright and I’m now on the low side of 79 years old; now, almost some 70 years ago.
Now you know the rest of the story.

40 years! Back then, though, this place was a small grocery store, and they sold Push-Ups.
The building is small, but not crowded. The food is TERRIFIC, and the service was the BEST!!!
A million stars out of 5!!!

Was driving through Paris after a trip to Broken Bow and went in for breakfast. I got the French Toast (with powdered sugar) and hashbrowns. It was a standard breakfast, filling, well priced, and plenty of sauces on the table to add to your meal. The wait staff were on top of it with their service and the owner was very friendly.
You can tell a lot of the locals go here because the waiters knew a lot of the people by first name.
I would definitely come here again.

Friendly, small town staff, reasonable service for a busy workday lunch. Food portions generous and seasoning was adequate. My salad came from a bag and had lots of bitter white iceberg. Angel biscuits were tasty. Husband enjoyed the roast beef and green beans. Chicken Fried Steak was mostly batter. Canned yams left on plate. Mashed potatoes left on plate. Biggest drawback is ZERO ambiance. We sat next to an ice machine, thin plastic tablecloth, cheap seats, had to walk through poorly appointed kitchen to use the restroom. Locals seem to love the place – every seat taken.
