Tell me why this is the best barbecue in San Antonio… I really love this new location and the patio seating and what a surprise they have a full bar now. I’m glad they turned this abandoned building into something. Taking this particulary dead zone and making new landscape is such a gift. I went during lunch and got the chopped brisket sandwich (recommend 10/10). The brisket is so good and I loved the BBQ sauce on the side. Really good flavor and tangy. Oh and the pickles are homemade. I also got the chopped brisket taco with all the fixings. The tortillas are also good. 10/10 My friend tried the nachos, loved them. This place is an absolute must try. You will not be disappointed.

Got some take out and it was great. The borracho beans were my favorite. The brisket was moist and well seasoned. The queso was also delicious. I wish they had corn tortillas for their tacos. Great addition to the neighborhood!

I felt like some bbq and we found this place. My wife had the pulled pork taco with the green beans salad and she loved it. I had the brisket plate with the boracho beans and vinegar slaw. The brisket was tender and was flavorful paired with the bbq sauce. The boracho beans were delicious, the vinegar slaw was ok.

South BBQ absolutely knocked it out of the park. The brisket was incredibly tender with perfect smoke flavor, and the sides were just as impressive. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and consistently amazing food!

This BBQ spot is such a gem. The service is warm, friendly, and genuinely down-to-earth, you feel taken care of the moment you walk in. The food is amazing, full of flavor and clearly made with care. The location itself is adorable, with both indoor and outdoor seating, and it makes for a really cute spot for a date. The surrounding neighborhood is aesthetically pleasing and adds to the overall vibe, plus there’s convenient parking available. Highly recommend!

I got the brisket to go. The flavor was delicious and perfectly tender. I am not a fan of pickled onions but hey this place is hip and delicious. I do wish they sold a sliced brisket sandwich, thats usually my favorite. Restaurant was clean and the staff was nice. I’ll likely try again sometime.

The brisket was really good; tender and smokey. The pulled pork was excellent and among the best we’ve ever had. The portion sizes were generous. The Mexican rice and borracho beans were delicious. I loved the look and feel of the restaurant interior. When the weather gets better, we’ll eat on the patio.

Brisket 5/10
Turkey 7/10
Sides were ok. Potato bread meh. Home made tortillas 9/10. Brisket had no flavor. Brisket needs to be cooked longer. Needs a better bark. Don’t wrap too soon. Let it rest.
Won’t come back.

Really tried to eat the brisket but it was terribly dry even with sauce. Maybe they just had a bad day. I ate the potato salad, it was ok. The beans were spicy but ok. I usually only review places if it’s going to be 5 stars but almost $23 for inedible food. The bbq plate menu is not clear and I paid extra for choosing brisket. Even the picture of the brisket I’m including looks dry.
