Our waitress at Crawford & Son led us here after dinner, which was a fun experience and definitely achieved that ‘speakeasy’ vibe. The cocktail menu was inventive and I liked my Tom Kha Margarita – not too sweet and the curry flavor was subtle but present. I like my cocktails a tad bit funkier but there were lots of interesting options on the menu. Very cool spot!

Great cocktails and cool bartenders. I’m finding that good cocktails don’t come cheap; this place is pricey! It’s also super dark which made it a little difficult to read the menu. Will definitely be back when celebrating!

With the help of Alexander and Jordan, we pulled off an epic surprise party for my husband’s 40th birthday this weekend. Accommodating at every step and with every detail, from specialty cocktails named after my husband with some of his favorite profiles, to the fantastic play list, Alexander and Sous Terre delivered a party beyond my expectations. We brought in several dozen doughnuts from across the street and it was super simple to coordinate with bringing in snacks. If you’re considering an intimate and super fun space for drinks, Sous Terre is an excellent choice.

Hands-down, the best cocktail bar in Raleigh! Perfectly executed classic beverages, the best staff, no better place for night out or simply a night cap on any night.

Really low-key and small. Perfect spot for excellent cocktails from skilled bartenders. These dudes are personable and very creative with their drinks. Tell them the kind of cocktails you prefer and in no time they’ll concoct a very tasty treat. The drinks on the menu are great too. You’ve got options here. Great for a one on one cocktail date or chill by yourself and vibe.

Awesome speakeasy experience! Some reviewers are unfairly leaving bad reviews solely for the fact that Sous Terre took over the former Atlantic Lounge space, and while I enjoyed AL, the new ST space in absolutely a nicer, higher end experience. The reality is, the AL owners had decided for whatever reason to close down their operations, so better for the space to be reimagined into something new and awesome rather than it just sitting there empty. It’s not like if ST didn’t exist AL would magically return. Anyway, staff was nice, didn’t have to wait long to put in an order despite being fairly crowded, and both drinks I got were great. That’s all you really need for a great cocktail experience!

Loved this place when it was the Atlantic Lounge; it was a low key speakeasy with just the right vibe. Now, after the Scott Crawford acquisition, it is just an EXTREMELY dark, EXPENSIVE ($16-20) bland cocktail bar like anywhere else in Raleigh. The bartenders are great, and the cocktails are tasty, but it’s hard to really rank it where it used to be with the best/cool hidden speakeasies in Raleigh. Definitely catering to a different crowd now, more in line with Jolie and Crawford. The Atlantic was a favorite, not sure I’ll be back anytime soon now, definitely a shame.

Perfectly made classics in a dark, sexy space. Perfect for dinner before or after dinner at one of the other Crawford concepts upstairs. Key is required for entry and can be purchased at either Crawford and Son or Jolie.

Elite experience and mixology.
Great sub-level bar with a speaker-easy atmosphere without being contrived.
The cocktails and mocktails were superbly balanced and worth the trip on their own.
The service was exceptional. Sean, behind the bar, greeted us as soon as we approached the bar, got us menus and followed up to see if we needed anything. Had a couple of great conversations about the mixology and shared interesting perspectives and insights. The drinks came out quick and they were great!
Absolutely a place to go back to

Sous Terre is a great new addition to Raleigh. I had the cobra’s fang, one of my favorite tiki drinks, and it was so good! The bar is beautifully designed, the menu is delicious, and the bartenders are really knowledgeable. If you have an appreciation for genuine cocktail bars and are looking for something different than what we’re used to in our city, I definitely recommend this place.

I see a lot of reviews comparing Sous Terre to the Atlantic Lounge. I would urge anyone who ever went to the Atlantic Lounge to understand that Sous Terre has nothing to do with what the space used to be. it’s literally a brand new bar with new ownership that happens to occupy the same physical space. Just appreciate the bar for what it is, because it’s never going to be anything like the Atlantic Lounge.
