Sourdough Nest by Viola began in a home kitchen, where Viola experimented with recipes to find relief from gluten sensitivity. She discovered sourdough worked well for her system and wanted to share it with others — offering healthier options without sacrificing delicious flavor. With the support of her husband Stockton and family, the home project grew into a storefront bakery where the community can enjoy fresh bread, cinnamon rolls, cookies, and hearty breakfasts. Born and raised in Star Valley, Viola is excited to give back to her hometown by sharing her passion for baking.

This place is a must when in the area! We were traveling through Star Valley and stayed a few nights in Afton where we found Sourdough Nest. I stopped in and bought a sampling of several things and OH MY GOODNESS!!! SO GOOD! The cinnamon rolls are mind blowing good, chocolate chip cookies are fabulous, sugar cookies yummy, biscuits are the BEST! oh and the bread, gracious it is amazing. Viola will remember us as the crazy people who came back to place a huge order to go. We have biscuits, bread and cookies in the freezer now and enjoying it daily. Thank you Viola!

We got brownies, lemon bar, and a box of pumpkin cookies. AMAZING! Everything was moist and chewy and delicious. The brownie was perfectly soft and chocolaty,but not too sweet. And the pumpkin chocolate chip cookie was probably one of the best things I have ever eaten. It was an actual cookie and not like a muffin, with the most wonderful spices. We will be going back!

Some of the best bread I’ve ever had! We got some for our camping and roadtrip along with some of the other food and goodies they have. Highly highly recommend! Such good food and good hospitality.

Overall good food but the grilled cheese sandwich was interesting. The cheese hardened into really hard pieces halfway through the meal. Like my cheese sandwich doesn’t do that at home. Not sure what that was about.

I have celiac disease and was curious to see how Viola’s sourdough would affect me. In my personal experience, I didn’t notice any of the usual symptoms I get from eating gluten. Of course, this is only my experience, and everyone responds differently, but I was pleasantly surprised. On top of that, the bread was absolutely delicious.
