This place doesn’t appear to exist anymore. Was really looking forward to trying the food and so I go to the address and it’s literally not there-drove all around and the phone number isn’t in service. Why are you saying you’re open on Google if you don’t even exist at the listed address. And why is this the second place that comes up when I search up soul food? Update your Google my Business, please.

Where to start? This little place is easy to miss. It’s in the back of 1480 Meriden Road (Entrance is on Peirpont) The owner and chef is quite the character. He will give you some history and background on his meals while you decide on your order. Interesting takes on Charleston style barbecue and NOLA type dishes. Southern comfort foods for sure. We ordered a few lunch specials that included collard greens, baked beans and mac & cheese. Unique and delicious foods. My barbeque sandwich had a very good home made cole slaw topping. Not much shade at the order window. Plan to wait in your car on hot sunny days.

Food & service was amazing! Owner is very hospitable & has so much passion for his business! (Try the unique variety of BBQ flavors!) We ordered two dishes & were blown away, the chopped Georgia bbq chicken was like nothing I’ve ever tasted! Great sides & house lemonade too! We will definitely be back for more 🙂

Very disappointed paid $25 for a fish dinner 3 very small pieces of fish .Came with 2 sides portions very small and not flavorful. It looked like a half of scoop of Mac and maybe a scoop of greens asked over the phone if yams were canned or fresh. Was told they were fresh, And the they were CLEARLY canned and could DEFINITELY tell then asked about dessert and was offereda small banana pudding for $10 .Won’t be returning . Constructive criticism. They should look into better portions and or adjust thier pricing . A d FYI I have no problem what so ever paying for food .
That is quality.

So I wanted a soul food dinner without cooking it myself so I ordered it from Soul to Go.
The mac and cheese was mushy, collard greens tasted like the frozen ones with thin pieces of bacon and seasoning was lacking
When I bit into the chicken it was raw! I trashed the whole meal! I will cook my own food next time!

The fried fish was seasoned to perfection, super crispy. It was my most favorite thing on the menu. I’m not a yams person, but today I was craving them and my craving was satisfied. The nice chunks of yam made this dish perfect. It wasn’t overly sweet which was nice. The Mac and cheese was really good as well, not like a baked Mac but still just as good and cheesy. This place is take out only so be prepared to eat in the car because the smell will have you salivating.

This is my second time and it was delicious then and delicious today. I had the steamed cabbage, sweet potatoes and aphrodisiac chicken wings, man I have to get that one again. It was so good, we should have taken pictures, but we wasted no time when we got home. We will definitely return!

Went today with my friend, never knew this little restaurant was here! We had the smothered chicken, collard greens, yams, dirty rice, and black eyed peas. Everything was great. Never had black eyed peas, they were ok, I would rather had a tub of the dirty rice, I definitely have to try making that at home one day, I could eat a whole bucket of that stuff! It took about 20 minutes to get the food, but it was piping hot and fresh! Will be back soon and I will have to remember to take a pic of the food , but I was so excited to try it! The owner was as nice as could be, loved it!

The food was awful. You pay 10 dollars for a small amount of soggy banana pudding. The collard greens taste canned and too sweet. I spent 45.00 for the worst soul food I ever had. One of the cheeses they use in their mac & cheese is disgusting with a nasty after taste. The chopped barbecue sandwich, yams and potato salad was tolerable but not worth the price. I do not mind paying for good food. Unfortunately this place fell short. I will not order from here again.
