Just had a super disappointing experience with Soul and smoke and Uber eats… I placed this order around 7 pm on a Monday night and although I was able to order as an option apparently they were sold out of brisket- Which was pretty much half of our meal. Instead of trying to contact me via phone or cancel the order on Uber eats They deliver my order without the brisket and a note telling me to contact Uber Eats…. They didn’t even try to include something to substitute the brisket! Pretty bad customer service- To top it off the rib tips were super dry! Go to Wilma’s instead

Wow, this little spot was amazing. Too good to be tucked in the food court along with some big brand name restaurants. That is the only reason I give the atmosphere a 4 star. I have been to the south for some good southern food and this was by far better. The brown butter cornbread was mouth-watering, the grits had an amazing taste profile and the brisket sandwich and pulled pork sandwich was excellent. Would go back in a heartbeat.

The quality of food outranks the nearby vendors. Your taste buds will not know you’re in a food court at Ogilvie Transportation Center.

This location is within a food hall ans stays open ptetty late, 9pm. It’s tucked into the far left corner. There is plenty of shared seating. It’s more of a self-serve model, so you order on the kiosk/tablet and present your order # when called.
Now, they may run out of your favorites, so get there early or order online to be sure.

– Greens (pretty good, may have vinegar base)

Man, this food was delicious. My husband & I just happened to walk in the food court & spotted this joint. We had the shrimp & grits, mac & cheese, red beans & rice, & a po’boy. Everything was seasoned & delicious!! Too good to be in the OTC food court!! We definitely will be back!!

I had the loveliest experience here. Soul food is a genuinely apt name for what they offer. I was met with the friendliest service and attentive help in finding a meal option that fit my dietary restrictions. That alone was a gift but the food itself was so delicious!! I actually ordered and had food delivered at work. I wanted to try a new place and I was so disappointed with the tips here. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing and someone could point me in the right direction. The slaw was apple slaw and it was delicious. It was the first thing I ate. Should have been bigger. The corn muffin was amazing. It was a large muffin. Like your hand balled in a fist for size. I ordered the chicken gumbo. I had to pay to add shrimp which didn’t catch the full flavor. And the gumbo was really spicy. I’m seeking a specific flavor more then a spice level when it comes to my gumbo. I don’t know how to describe it other than that. But I get my gumbo in New Orleans and they know what I mean. Rice was perfectly prepared. I also ordered rib tips. These were oddly sliced and really tough to eat. Like it was like chewing on wood. And I had to drink my water to swallow it down. Overall I like the sides enough that I might order them again but the tips are a no for me.

This was my first stop in Chicago as soon as I saw the menu online and it did not disappoint. The Mac and cheese was love at first bite as well was the corn beard and the rice and beans. I got the turkey and with the bbq sauce it was so good. I did not catch his name but the guy who took care of me showed me great hospitality and had such a great vibe. I can’t wait for my next visit
