Reviews
The staff was genuinely friendly, and the place has that cozy hole-in-the-wall vibe: bright, super clean, and you can hear the kitchen working in the background. It’s not overly loud, just a nice touch that makes it feel warm and homey.
It was also clear this spot has regulars. A steady stream of people came in who knew the owners, and the owners knew them right back. I only wish it was closer to where I live so I could become a regular too.
We ordered the War Won Ton Soup (large) and it was my personal favorite. Perfect won tons in a delicious light broth with chicken and tender vegetables, exactly what you want on a cold Salt City afternoon. I’m so glad I got the large size.
We also tried the fried egg rolls. They were golden brown and came with sweet and sour sauce. These were just okay for me because I wanted a little more filling, but I’ll give them bonus points for being not greasy at all.
The salt and pepper chicken wings were another standout. Super crispy and crunchy with great flavor, served on a bed of fried garlic, onions, and jalapeños. They were also nicely fried without feeling oily. Next time I’m getting the Korean style because I bet it’s also great.
We got the BBQ pork fried rice too and it was really well done, with a good balance of rice and all the other ingredients like char siu, egg, and edamame. The truffle and beef version looked incredible, but we figured it might be too rich for lunch. Definitely trying that next time.
To round it out, we ordered the deluxe mixed vegetables and they were super fresh and crisp, cooked nicely in a light sauce. The mix had broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, zucchini, bok choy, celery, and daikon. Nothing was overcooked, everything still had a great crunch in a good al dente way.
Service was attentive but not overbearing, and the owner checked in with us to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Great value too, with most dishes around $10 to $20. We’ll absolutely be back.
We ordered the large hot and sour soup, crab rangoon, crispy fried calamari, shrimp fried rice, orange chicken, deluxe mixed vegetables, and oriental chicken salad. Everything totaled to $106, including tax. We absolutely loved the hot and sour soup and the calamari. We will definitely come back here. I also can’t wait to tell people I know to try this restaurant.
Our favorite is definitely the Truffle Beef Mushroom Fried Rice. The Chow Fun is also good. We like how the meat is cut to just the right size and has a tender texture. The Honey Walnut Prawns w/Pumpkin is too sweet for us, but the prawns are nice and big.
The vegetable dishes could use a little more work. While we love the taste and cut of the eggplants in the Basil Garlic Eggplant, we don’t appreciate the thick basil stems in it. The stems totally ruined the dish.
A big thumbs up for the restaurant using fresh ingredients in their cooking. I might choose to dine in one of these days, and try more dishes.
