My hopes were high based off the reviews. The pic of the catfish is what made me want to try this place out, I love a crispy catfish. I even requested my catfish crispy. The catfish I received wasn’t crispy or done. It was so pink and gooey it ruined my appetite, I didn’t even try my sides. Then I was like let me check my wings. My wings were not cooked also. I was going to drive back for a refund but I just trashed the food. Today definitely had to be an off day because this is definitely not the food from the reviews

Nice friendly service! I had the beef tips smothered in gravy, candied yams, and cabbage with sausage. It also came with a cornbread muffin. Solid soul food! I liked everything but I should have gotten collard greens instead of the cabbage. I suppose I was actually in the mood for the collard greens because I tried some that my friend ordered and it was excellent! If you’re in the mood for some no frills soul food I would definitely check out Soul Lit Kitchen on the corner of FM646 & FM517, inside the Chevron gas station.

Located inside of Buzzy Bee convenience store gas station. Food & portions are worth every penny, I’ve tried the oxtails, hamburger steak, smothered pork chops, honey garlicky chicken. They’re all AMAZING!! Plates come with rice and gravy under your meat, 2 sides, and corn muffin. I’ve tried cabbage, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, yams. Y’all better go pick you up some lunch or supper, just go get you some.

First I tried the cheeseburger, which honestly was one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten. If you are expecting an average burger made from a frozen patty, this is not the place for you. The patty was huge, homemade and seasoned to perfection. I was pleasantly surprised with the fries because they were perfectly crispy on the outside, freshly made, and delicious. Not a soggy, limp, fry in the bunch. Big portions and big flavor. Then I ordered from his Holiday menu for our Christmas dinner. I ordered the seafood Mac and cheese, and the seafood dressing. Everyone raved about how dang good they were, and I’m telling you, it was fantastic. I’m so happy I gave this place a try. The food is really good, and the service is excellent. He responds to messages and inquiries quickly, and he’s very polite. I’ll definitely be back to try some more!
