Came here for my anniversary. Everyone was so welcoming. We were taken to our seats immediately. They acknowledged our anniversary with a congrats and also a glass of champagne. We ordered the calamari, the mushroom thin crust pizza and mussels. The calamari could have used a bit of seasoning in the batter but ultimately we’re nice and fresh. Mussels were small but plentiful and the polenta taste. The best part was the pizza. So good with great flavor. We also got drinks. The pistachio martini & espresso martini….yum.

This place was delicious! We got the burrata as an appetizer and for our main course the shrimp linguine and caserecci al pesto. Everything was a 10/10. The vibes are very cozy & warm. The food is very authentic. Honestly better than some restaurants in the North End! Very excited to have found this restaurant in the neighborhood.

We went to Sophia’s Grotto to celebrate my daughters girlfriend’s birthday last night. It is located down a little alley, that magically transports you to Italy! We were greated at the door and asked if we had a reservation (which we did) we asked if we could sit out on the patio under the heat lamps. Even though the wind had a chill, it was so cozy out there! Our waitress was amazing, very invested in making our outing enjoyable! She took our drink and small plate order and they came back to the table quickly. Then we ordered our main dishes. ALL of the choices made by our table tasted amazing! We will definitely be back when we are in the area!

The owner, John, helped our party of 15 get seated and served quickly to celebrate my brother’s graduation! The staff were helpful and treated you like old friends. The food was amazing and everything came out hot and delicious. The vibes were beautiful and reminded me of the streets of Rome. I can’t wait to come back to boston and eat here again. Also lots of gluten-free options with no cross contamination!

I’m giving Sophia’s Grotto a five. We sat on the patio during lunch time and had just appetizers, but each one was delicious. The toppings on the Crostini were fresh and the olive oil tasty. I loved the Poblano which was stuffed with mushrooms, broccolini, and ricotta, and its tomato sauce was excellent. We’re still a bit hungry after that so ordered the Mezze Plate, which was good, especially the manchego cheese, again lightly topped with that delicious olive oil. Staff was friendly and helpful. With a glass of wine, a bottle of Pellegrino, and a Maine Lunch draft, $75 total for two including a 20% tip.

Came for Valentine’s day with my wife when they had a $75 3 course menu. It was a bit of a mess. Our second course came out about 5 minutes after the first while we were still eating, and the server just seemed confused. My main was a pappardelle dish, it came out extremely hot to the point of being inedible, and all the noodles were just stuck together in big clumps. Flavor was just okay. Would not recommend.

Its a really nice hidden/ hole in the wall, with awesome decor and ambient. The service usually better than my last visit.

I was disappointed with the service our server provided. Still left a tip but could’ve been better.
The food was okay but maybe it was just a bad day for the kitchen , the sangria ( was mediocre) even the glass in which it was poured was an ugly tall glass instead of a red wine glass.

Hopefully next time it will be better overall experience. Otherwise I may need to head to another spot for pasta.

We visited the restaurant for our 4th visit for a wedding celebration with friends and family. We were greatly disappointed by the experience. The food was the worst tasting food we had had in Boston and took over an hour to be brought out. It gave one of our members food poisoning as well. The service was also non existence with the waitress never checking in on us the entire time. We were shocked by how bad everything was as we had had such a good experience 2 years before. I’m not sure what changed but given how bad it was, we and our friends and family will not be going back.

I will keep my original review in hopes the the restaurant does better. This was our experience 2 years ago:
We visited this restaurant about 1 month ago and it was a great experience. The food was all delicious and the staff was kind. All the food came out in a reasonable amount of time and the presentation looked great! We ordered the an appetizer with tomatoes and cheese and it was such a fun surprise because it came with an ice-cream scoop size of fresh mozzarella. The ingredients were all very fresh to the point where they were either made in house or made locally. There are lots of different flavor options for people so this restaurant is great for everyone. It is a very cozy environment and perfect for either a date or for a family dinner. There are also lots of wine options to pair with your meal and enhance your experience. I would definitely visit this restaurant again.

Delicious pasta and entrees. We loved all of the food we had. The ravioli had so much flavor and the white wine sauce was delicious. Chicken parm was simply done right with deep flavor and comforting tastes. My mojito was great too. Vibes are definitely better on the outdoor patio than the indoor area which is nothing spectacular. Service was absolutely lovely. We’ll be back!

Place has a great atmosphere! Having said that, I prefer their other location’s food.
