If I could give a negative star to Sonny’s Pizza & Deli, I absolutely would.

Today I experienced some of the worst service I’ve ever had, with zero accountability from management. This is especially disappointing because I frequently come here for lunch while working at the Neuroscience Center. Unfortunately, they lost a very loyal customer today.

I went in as I normally do and was the second customer in line. I ordered my sandwich first and then proceeded to the cashier to complete my transaction. A woman standing directly behind me ordered after I did, and she ordered her sandwich on the same type of sub roll that I requested.

After waiting 2–3 minutes, the man I believe to be the manager informed me that my sandwich could not be made on the sub roll I ordered because the bread was “still frozen,” and asked if I would be okay with a different type of bread. I agreed.

However, a few minutes later, I noticed that the customer who ordered after me received her sandwich on the exact sub roll I originally requested, fully thawed.

When I asked the manager why this happened, he blamed the employee who took my order, stating that she should have placed the ticket in a different spot so my sandwich would be made first. This explanation was completely unacceptable. He took no accountability whatsoever.

I then asked if there was any type of compensation or accommodation for the inconvenience and poor service, and he flatly said there was nothing he could do,continuing to place blame on his employee instead of addressing the issue.

The only person who took responsibility and apologized was Reyson, the cashier who rang me up. He even offered me a cookie, not something I was asking for, but it showed that he at least recognized the service I received was not okay.

I am completely disgusted by how this situation was handled, especially by management, and I will not be returning.

Food is ok. Best methodist has to offer really. Service is lack luster. Lettuce on sandwiches cost extra for some reason? No refills on fountan sodas?? Small dingy area to eat. Doors are always blocked by wet floor signs. Cashier and cook always yelling across the restaurant to each other. If you have a choice, order door dash somewhere else.

You will be surprised when you try the pizza, or something else on the menu, there are also daily specials, first class service and the owner is a person with great human qualities, which makes everything at Sonny’s incredible.

I totally agree with Michelle K. That man behind that counter pick n choose on who he provides “superior” service to. How dare you throw my sandwich together the way you did. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

This is a hidden gem in the heart of a hospital basement. Best pizza in the city in a hidden location. The staff is friendly and the pizza is amazing. Lots of cheese, great ingredients, and hot. If you find yourself in the area come get some of this healing food.

I ordered my sub sandwich & waited forever. Then when I asked about it, they said, I thought you said nevermind. I didn’t. I then told him again my order & not to toast it, well he did. Never Again! Not friendly either!

The breadsticks are heavenly pillows of yumminess. The cheese pizza slice is NY style and really good. I would have taken pictures but i ate them too fast.
That said, there are 5 locations for this place according to their website but only one shows up on Google. For the methodist location, Sonny’s sign by the main cafeteria by the main lobby elevators says they’re open 10:45 to 730pm or something like that not the weird breakfast/lunch hours Google has. No idea if the 11th st location has different hours. Methodist’s basement DEFINITELY feels like a walk to my impending death by serial killer, but pizza’s worth it lol. There are signs when you get closer, but basically take the main elevator to the ground floor. Take a right. Walk all the way down to the t, take a left, walk all the way down to the t, then there are signs but you take a right at that t. If I were their marketing designer I would have pizza slice arrows leading the way from the main elevators lol. Sorry if those directions stink or are wrong.

Greatest pizza I’ve had in a long time… been in Indy for 3 years and this is the best I’ve had here. That’s from a native New Yorker. Will be back. Located on the ground floor of a hospital!

Busy so they decide to just not warm your pizza up. Like it’s still room temperature.
