That pizza was so good! And it’s such a cute spot! We tried a couple of their pizzas and each one was better than the last! Everyone was super friendly, and it wasn’t bad finding a seat. They had multiple options from the main dining room, to the bar, to a covered patio out back! We ended up sitting in the bar, which was nice because they had a wider drink selection. The service was very attentive. The food was great, and the drinks were great too. They had a long list of apéritif and soda options, which I haven’t really seen other places, but it was a nice refreshing Option. I’d highly recommend going!

I enjoyed the pizza and outside seating area here however, my experience tonight has painted this establishment as dismissive and unwelcoming.

Based on the menu, the frosé lists three ingredients: rosé, strawberry, and vodka. My partner is allergic to cherries, and to our surprise when we were almost done with the drink, there was a frozen cherry at the bottom of it. From the moment I got the drink, the cherry was not visible. I did not expect for it to be in a slushy at all. It is not listed anywhere on the menu and when I asked the outside bartenders/servers to confirm if it was in fact a cherry, they were kind and told me they use it as a garnish and gave me more info about the type of cherry it was. They even said that they should probably put that information on the menu.

Before we left, my partner spoke to someone inside to suggest they update their menu, citing their active allergic reaction. The person inside doubled down and said that cherries are listed on the menu, which is completely false, and generally dismissed our concerns. We were not asking for a refund or trying to get something out of this, we were just concerned and wanted to warn them in case this happened again. Especially since the ordering system is through a QR code, the ingredients should be more clear if there isn’t always a server around to answer questions.

I honestly like the space and the food, but I won’t support a business that does not care about its customers. The response my partner received while we were heading home to get allergy medication was rude and careless.

Decent pizza. Thicker style with a good amount of ingredients. Tastes good but eats like a deep dish pie. It doesn’t justify the $40 for a fancy pepperoni pizza with the 20% mandatory service charge. I honestly don’t know anyone in their right mind who’d order take out for these prices. Also $3.50 for a canned soda. Probably won’t visit again. $91 for two pizzas and 2 cans of soda.

The pizza here is just okay. Not the best in town or in this area. It’s pretty soupy and wet, maybe from the sauce. The flavor is alright.
The atmosphere is great, there are different concepts in the same venue which is cool.
The non alcoholic drink is so delicious! It’s a frozen juice. That was the best order of the table.

The pizza is great, but keep in mind they have 20% service charge — which is fine, but some things shouldn’t require and extra 20%.

If you order the pepperoni pizza (with a kid) it might be worth getting the Parmesan on the side (it can be way too salty otherwise). We bought one of restaurant’s wines (Cabin Vineyard – sparkling piquette) – $30, it it was undrinkable. It’s a crown cap bottle and was clear that fermentation continued in the bottle and the wine had a very off taste. I’m not really sure the protocol for returning an opened bad wine, so if the restaurant owner or winemaker is reading this, I’d suggest reaching out.

Cocktails were great though!

Stumbled across this place as I was ordering carryout up the street at Eddie Leonard’s on Sunday. The pizza was great… I Had a large pepperoni with basil and xcheese. I just finished eating the last slice today and it was just as if I ordered today. Follow the reheat instructions.

So I want to start off by saying this post is Biased. Lol but only as it applies to the food.

So I stopped by Sonny’s Pizza Last Night on Monday of MLK Jr Day 2023 after a book signing event at Sankofa Lounge and bookstore. When i got to Sonny’s it was great. The vibes were cool. The host was Most Curtious and Respectful. The service was great. It was very clean. I felt super safe. Not because of like anything security related but the atmosphere was really welcoming and serine.

Parking in the area wasn’t too much of a issue.

The front door is ♿ accessible however I cannot say how accessible only because I wasn’t looking out for that and there was no one who “appeared” to Able-Challenged of whom I could assess their comfort level.

The food was served inside a very environmentally friendly container. I ordered a cheese pizza and it came topped with a basil leaf.

I am a practicing non-pork eater. And although I didn’t do any detailed investigation there menu includes a disclaimer that encourages customers to ask about alternatives. And also prompts the customer to make the restaurant aware of dietary restrictions.

Also my favorite part was the tables. If your still with a high school sweetheart it’s a great place for lunch or dinner.

One of the best tasting. pizza’s in DC. The cheese is delicious, tomatoes taste like summertime and the crust is full of flavor, cooked just right and just crunchy enough w/ just a little char! It was refreshing to get a great pizza that wasn’t trying to be a Neapolitan pie. Sonny’s is a delicious pie just like my Italian Grandma used to make. We loved it and can’t wait to go back, and it’s not around the corner for us.

The pizza was delicious; but it was a bit hard to eat. There was almost no crust to hold it by, and the bottom of the dough was a bit hard so cutting it wasn’t easy either. We also ordered the Farro and the mixed greens salad; both were pretty good, especially the farro. Overall, the taste was very flavorful, service was pretty quick, and it was a good experience.
