Visited my mum today for the first time in 15 years. When she wanted to take home some food from Sonny’s BBQ, the aroma from the ribs was appetizing! Later, came back for dinner and enjoyed great food: BBQ Cobb with chicken, BBQ Salad with pulled pork, and a kid sized BBQ Ribs with green beans and fries. The grilled meat was delicious! Knew we wanted great ribs when visiting KY and Sonny’s BBQ hit the spot. The staff were exceptional and attentive. We also were thrilled with the BBQ Sauce and Dry Rub. Definitely recommend coming here and we’ll be sure to keep Sonny’s BBQ on the list of places to go when we’re in the area.

First time inside Sonny’s BBQ. Have eaten from there, but never dine-in. Right off, there is no hostess to seat us. There are 4 of us. Some guy came out from the back looked like he scared there’s people here. It’s a Friday night. We get seated after about 12 minutes standing there. We get to the table and the server comes over and asked us for our drink order. Then she starts telling us they are short staffed, their manager cut hours and the staff. so may take a little longer than usual. Cool.. But there are only maybe 5 tables with customers. The place is dead. We get our food and everything is cold or burnt. My entire sampler of chicken, ribs, pulled pork, and beef brisket was colder than the atmosphere in there. The fries were cooked to death. The wings were burnt. The only item that was de ent was a burger. The childs grill cheese had so much garlic on it, it couldnt be eaten. I thought it was garlic bread with cheese. They recooked (microwaved) my sampler, the fries and the wings. Burger was great they said. So they take the burger off our bill.. Why?? I don’t know.. and 15% off the rest. With service, the kitchen, and atmosphere. If I was a manager, I would have comped the whole meal plus something.. But that’s just me. This is one place I won’t be going back to anytime soon, if ever.. Oh and did I mention the slime in the mens restroom around the sink. Has not been cleaned in awhile..

Had the baby back ribs and smoked wings. Baked beans, coleslaw, garlic bread for sides. Everything was good. Excellent when it comes to the meat. Just wish they gave more than 3 wings. And the weird thing was they served crackers with their coleslaw….or crackers as an appetizer….idk. But it just seemed soooo out of place. Really out of place. But overall very good.

Sonny’s used to be one of my favorite places to eat. In recent years Sonny’s has become disappointing. Food and service has went downhill. They used to have the absolute best cole slaw but they’ve even changed that.

We havent eaten here for awhile as the last time my other half bit into his sandwich and chipped a tooth on a piece of bone. Went back today. He ordered broccoli for his side. The first order that came out had so much pepper on it that it was inedible. Server apologized and said she would get some from the back. Second order was lukewarm and hard. Mentioned this to server and she said she was sorry. Told her that it wasn’t her fault as she wasn’t the cook. She informed us that the servers microwave the broccoli and who knows what else. What happened to the cooks fixing the food? Highly doubt that we will visit again.

Went for lunch today and honestly was excited to eat there. Ordered the BBQ cobb with chicken tenders. The onions were mushy and smelled so strong. Salad was a nice size but between the super wilted lettuce and the over powering smell of the onions, it was not enjoyable. No I did not say anything to the waitress. She already felt bad for our corn nuggets being overdone and hard. On the upside everyone else’s food was ok.

Our waitress was absolutely AMAZING. And we usually love Sonny’s food but today’s visit just wasn’t good. All our food was cold and tough. My sons hot dog had been cooked so long it was shriveled up and to tough to bite into.

I went through the drive through (mainly for time’s sake). It literally took 45 minutes to get through the line. When I finally got my food, there was no explanation or apology for the long wait. The food itself was delicious as usual. But when I got back to my hotel, I discovered they had not included any napkins or utensils. So then I had to go find some. Overall, a disappointing experience.

Honestly this is like the place to go to not only enjoy yourself and who you’re with, but to get great service and surprisingly your food is done so fast! I did time our food, two lunch meals and an appetizer. Done in a little over 5 minutes! The woman who served us was also the best waitress I’ve had in so many restaurants! There was just enough interaction. Not too much, and never bothered us if we were in the middle of conversations. I asked if I could have her name btw for this review, and I don’t do long reviews like this, so if you go in there I’m just gonna tell you Danielle is a great waitress!
