The food was ok. We got brisket, sausage, chicken, okra, Mac n cheese, slaw, and baked beans. The okra was really good. The Mac n cheese was good. The sausage was tasty, especially with the bbq sauce. The brisket was ok, but the rest was forgettable. The beans tasted like they came right out of a can. If you are in a hurry, the staff was great and it is convenient, but don’t go in with high expectations.

I walked in and immediately Kenzie asked me if I could be helped. She helped me order from the kiosk and got me a beer from the back. I really appreciate the quick service and smiles on a busy day at DFW. I came here to see why there was a 2.6 overall review and not sure why folks are giving Sonny’s a negative review. Brisket was lean and tasty. Fried okra is my favorite and it was so good!

I was in DFW during lunch for my flight, so decided ti try the smokehouse for a meal. The register and self ordering kiosk are in front right. There’s a big sitting area on the left side. The orders are served there as well.
The menu has option for sandwiches, plates and combos. It was little pricey, but that’s how it is in airports. I got the two meats combo with pulled chicken and beef brisket. It came with two sides also for which I ordered coleslaw and mac & cheese. The order was ready in about five minutes. The quantity was good. Loved the beef brisket. I could believe how good it tasted. Compared to that pulled chicken fell miles short. I should have just ordered double brisket. The sides were also good.
I was pleasantly surprised how tasty everything was, except the chicken. I’ll surely dine here again if I am back at DFW.

Decent quick breakfast while I was waiting to board my flight. Sausage had a little kick to it. Price is good for serving size.

Well this was not the experience I was expecting I should have gone to dickeys. The sausage tasted like it had fillers or something was off about it. The brisket tasted good but the amount of sauce was very minimal. Mac and cheese was not cheesy at all. Coleslaw was very good. More misses than hit. Value your time and money go to whataburger.

This review is of the 3 meat combo:
Chicken: mild juicy but seasoned
Brisket: warm and with fatty pieces (my husband likes the fatty pieces), most flavourful of the 3 meats
Pulled pork: warm, not seasoned
Fries: cold , mildly seasoned
Mac and cheese: hot, not seasoned
Nice music, clear area to eat, window near a few jet bridges. Only one BBQ sauce , no other options.
I would probably try the sandwiches next time, hopefully the meat and bread will be hot.

I know it’s airport food but really the brisket sandwich is really dry even the sauce didn’t help. The potato salad was dry needed some moisture. The baked beans seemed to be out of a can and no flavor. Good thing is the beverage was good. I will try something different next time I am in town.

When in Texas, eat BBQ. Skip the familiar unhealthy fast food joints & overpriced restaurants and get your protein fix. The combo meat options or the bbq sandwich is the way to go. The house bbq sauce was tangy & yummy, not too sweet. Pulled pork was juicy; pulled chicken a bit dry & brisket was right in the middle; good potato salad, not too creamy; cole slaw a touch runny; adequate portion; overall relatively decent value compared to other sit in restaurants. Friendly & fast service; casual vibe, low noise level, ample seating with a view of your plane; conveniently located near restrooms by gate E14. Recommended!

Found the worst BBQ in Texas. The pulled pork tasted like it was boiled 4 days ago. It’s absolutely tasteless. The 2 tablespoons of sauce in the side cup did nothing to help.
The coleslaw was a pile of coarsely shredded cabbage with very little dressing. The potato salad was dry and tasted like vinegar. We each took about 4 bites and then threw our $20 away. We had to go get something else to eat just to get the sour taste out of our mouths.
1 star for the food.

Pulled pork sandwich was dry and tasteless, served on a dried out bun. Mac n cheese tasted worse than Kraft out of the box and bbq french fries were undercooked. I don’t usually leave reviews for places I don’t like, but must let other travelers know to AVOID this restaurant in Terminal E. Counter server/cashier was very pleasant but that is the only redeeming part of Sonny Bryan’s. Not sure what’s going on here, but the pork definitely didn’t taste smoked nor fresh.
