The owner was on his own. He took orders and delivered the beverages and food. He was also in charge of the bar drinks. I had hot Vietnamese hot jasmine tea (delicious) two egg rolls and Sesame chicken with fried rice. The egg rolls were very small compared to the spring rolls. The flavor was spot on I could have eaten a dozen. The Sesame chicken was very good. The fried rice was eggs, peas, carrots and green onion. A good portion. Enough for another meal. There were six of us in our party. Everyone was happy, except for the French fries which were to dark in color and tasted weird. We would all gladly come back again.

We tried a variety of items. The cream cheese puffs are quite delicious, pho flavorful, dumplings delightful, lo mein masterful, and fried rice robust flavors.

First time going in and was very pleased with everything. The seating area is very open with lots of seating and still spacious. Everything was clean and well kept. The food was amazing! Everything that was ordered was much better than expected. Fresh ingredients, tons of flavor and no leftovers to be had. I definitely recommend to anyone looking for something out of the ordinary for the region.

Ever since I first started coming ive always been welcomed, sonny himself is a great guy and loves to interact with his customers. Food is amazing and the atmosphere is great. When Minnesota Family suggested Sonny’s as the halfway point to meet (from where I was staying), I assumed I was in for (yet) another Bar & Grill experience with the standard Pub fare. Imagine my delight when I walked in and found it was Asian Fusion. In the middle of small town Minnesota? The food is a delightful mix of Chinese and Vietnamese and the portions are huge. We enjoyed the Shrimp Fried rice, which contained the largest shrimp I’d ever seen away from the Coast(s), the House Special Crispy Noodles (SO good!) and Sonny’s Special and everything was delicious. The food also arrived very quickly. I truly cannot say enough good things about our Friday evening dining experience. If I’m ever back in Wadena, I will make it a point to visit Sonny’s again.

The combination of Vietnamese and Chinese food is outstanding. The portions are excellent. Leftovers tomorrow. Flavor excellent and the vegetables, chicken beef and shrimp were cooked to perfection. I haven’t had better Asian food in my life. I live near Garrison and it was very much worth the drive. I will return. Super friendly staff – very competent.
