I gave my order in the normal way. By pushing the red button and waited.
5 minutes went by then 10, then 15, then 20 and I reushed the. Red button and kindly said, when might I expect my mozzarella sticks? Did not get a reply, did not get an answer. So I waited another 10 minutes and finally stopped one of the car hops and said, how long am I going to have to wait for my mozzarella sticks and Coke.
She said I will check on it for you. She came back to the vehicle and said, apparently your order was not put in I will put it in for you and take care of you. Thankfully, this person had some customer service experience, which I appreciated, with a substantial gratuity when she brought back my order.
Other than that the place is always clean, the service is great, and the sonic atmosphere is great. It’s always fun to order in app or at the kiosk.
It’s called “overrun”—that magical process where they whip more air into the shake mix to make it “fluffier” and “lighter.” Cool. But did anyone stop to think about how that air might also be fluffing up my kid’s digestive systems? Because right now, my kids’ stomachs are holding a protest. They’re farting, crying, and — I kid you not — they are actively plotting to never return to Sonic again. It’s like the “Special” is an invitation for disaster.
Here’s the thing, Sonic: If you’re just trying to stretch the product for a lower price point during a special, at least let us feel like we’re getting something worthwhile! It’s not even like it’s coming out of your pocket — it’s the company doing this! So why are we getting the air version of a milkshake? This isn’t an aviation class, it’s food! I need my kids to not have to think twice before getting excited about a Route 44 strawberry limeade. But now, instead of “Yay, let’s stop at Sonic!”, it’s, “Uh, nah, remember that time we felt like balloons popped inside us?”
And, let’s talk texture for a second. Adding more air doesn’t just make the shake less filling, it makes it regretfully delicious until you realize your stomach is staging a rebellion. I thought last time was a fluke. But nope. This time, it’s not me—it’s you, Sonic.
It’s like a “more for less” deal, but instead of more joy, we get more wind. And believe me, when you have a family of 6, we can’t afford to be floating away on a shake that’s mostly air. So, do us all a favor and teach your staff the fine art of NOT inflating milkshakes to the point that they might just float off into the sky.
For the sake of my digestive system—and my sanity—please, STOP with the fluffing!
