Somenya in Quincy is a solid spot and definitely worth checking out. From the start the drinks impressed us especially the lychee cocktail which was easily a standout and so refreshing. Every appetizer we tried was a hit with the crab rangoon being the clear favorite crispy flavorful and hard to stop eating.
They’re known for their udon noodles so we had to try a few. The Snow Crab Udon was comforting and well balanced (may not be for everyone as this dish is served cold!) while the Beef Kimchi Udon (served warm) brought a nice kick of heat and bold flavor. We also ordered the Chicken Curry Don rice bowl which was hearty and satisfying and rounded out the meal nicely.
Overall this is a great go to spot in Quincy for udon and Japanese comfort food. I’d rate the food an 8 out of 10 with drinks and appetizers really helping it shine.

We drove over an hour to visit Somenya not once, but twice and it was absolutely worth it.
Our first visit was just for drinks, and we completely fell in love with the Havana. Our bartender, Yasmine, was amazing. She was friendly, very attentive, and clearly knows her craft. The drinks she made were outstanding and honestly memorable enough that we couldn’t stop thinking about them all week.
That led to our second visit, this time for food. We ordered most of the appetizers on the menu along with some udon and don dishes, and everything was incredible. The flavors were spot on, beautifully prepared, and just as impressive as the drinks.
From the cocktails to the food to the service, the experience was fantastic. We can’t wait to go back again.

I was very excited to try Somenya out because of all the traction it was getting online. Unfortunately, the food fell short. Although there is a variety of things on the menu, the only item that was okay was the beef sukiyaki udon, but even that was only subpar. All the seafood items had a strong fishy flavor and left an unsavory taste which was very disappointing. I can see the potential of this restaurant, but after my experience, it just didn’t live up to the hype.

I’ve heard so many wonderful things about Somenya, so I had to check it out — and it did not disappoint! As soon as I walked in, I felt transported to another world. The beautiful cherry blossom decor and Japanese-inspired design create such an inviting and elevated dining atmosphere.
The service was excellent — our server was friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. The food was just as amazing as everyone says! The udon noodles had the perfect balance of chewiness and flavor. Plus, they have a full bar with a great selection of drinks that look as good as they taste.
A fantastic spot to hang out with friends or coworkers. Highly recommend!

such a gem!! the space feels calm and cozy, and what really stood out was how genuinely kind and warm it was; it felt very welcoming in a genuine way. plus the food is just really solid across the board: comforting, well-balanced, and made with care!

All of the dishes we ordered were delicious. Unfortunately, the service fell short; the staff remained behind the counter behind curtains, making it difficult for us to get their attention. We had to verbally call out to them, which was uncomfortable.

Foods are nothing special. Overall is fine, but a little overpriced. For example, too much soup for the sukiyaki udon..
Atmosphere and the interior design is good but the food and service could be much better with that pricing.

Warm and welcoming atmosphere. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and owners. Delicious signature udon dishes and a wide range of tasty Izakaya-style appetizers. Amazing cocktails prepared by an attentive and amiable bartender. I’ve finally found my neighborhood restaurant/bar in Quincy!

I’ve visited this Somenya location 3 times before, and each time, the service was slow but it wasn’t busy either. The first two times I went were around 8-9pm, and the most recent time was around 5-6pm. It was a little busy and I went with my boyfriend and his sister. We ordered a Koji Fried Chicken, two Cold Spicy Beef Udon, and a Karaage Don Rice bowl. We had to wait more than a 1 hour for our entree, while other customers were coming in and out. The service was disappointing, and they were not attentive.

Excellent experience. Jenny, our server was kind and attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Food was absolutely top notch. I had the Chirashi Udon (Salmon, Scallops, and Yellowtail).
One thing to note that sets this place apart from other Japanese restaurants was the real wasabi!! Actually imported from Japan.
Cocktails were also excellent. The bar is open until 12 midnight, and it just might be our new hangout spot.
