Reviews
To the restaurant. Nice appearance, clean and and accordingly equipped and decorated.
Staff was super friendly, helpful and with good spirits.
The above reaso s is why I give the two stars.
On we go with the food.
We ordered almost $90 worth of food. We wanted to give this Mexican restaurant a true and honest review and that’s why we tried many items.
2 chicken tacos, 2 beef tacos, 2 fish tacos, ham breakfast burrito, menudo, Carneasada fries, 2 tamales and 3 large drinks.
I ordered all tacos with flower shell. They all came in crispy corn shells. We apologized for the misunderstanding and they replaced them with flower shells. Unfortunately we did not get any beef tacos back so all we had was 4 chicken. And two fish tacos. Bummer…
Chicken and fish tacos were on the level of taco bel and other food chains of that level. No good sauce, in my opinion no homemade tortilla, poor quality lettuce and so on.
Ham breakfast burrito and fries were pretty good. Nothing too flavorful but we enjoyed the items.
Tamales were also not bad at all. Fair amount of meat and flavors were decent.
And now to the worst item we ordered. Menudo…I ate menudo many times in my life. Tripe (cow, pig, sheep stomach liner), I ate tripe salads, tripe in Vietnamese Pho soups and so on but never ever I had such bad smelling tripe. Clearly their supplier or the restaurant themself does not a very good cleaning and prepping job. Tripe is a very delicate food and has to prepared properly. If not you get the smell of digested food. In short: poop smell.
It was absolutely disgusting. There was people eating it right next to me and seem not to have a problem. Did they get theirs from another batch? I have no idea. Absolutely wrong and disgusting.
I must have dropped a bit on my beard while eating the menudo because on the drive home I had that smell in my nose….boy, was I happy when I got home and able to clean my face.
That’s all I can say. 2 two star review is a solutely generous for this Restaurant. Staff and appearance deserve that. Food, no way….you will get equal or better food at the big chain Mexican junk food places.
My followers, friends and family know that I would never write such a bad review but I had no choice. Customers deserve the truth. I probably won’t go back to any Sombrero restaurant.
I am hoping the owners will hire some better chefs and make better choices, otherwise I am not able to see this place serving food for much longer.
This is probably the worst review I have ever given. My apologies to a Yonex that does not agree but the truth is more important than feelings.
This was my first time at Sombreros and I dint k ow this place existed. I am also not associated with any competitors. Just the facts….
