I’ve never had anything but an amazing experience here. From the food to the drinks, everything is flavorful and satisfying. Service is usually great as well. We recently visited for brunch and it was AMAZING. Pro tip: try the cornbread to share! Sombra has easily become one of my favorite spots.

Me and my friends went to Sombra for a late night snack, and I have to say I’m amazed. The atmosphere is incredible. The moment you walk in, you are met with friendly staff, amazing food, and a great vibe. For an appetizer, we ordered the nachos and let’s just say they didn’t disappoint. The crunchy tortilla chips are topped with fresh guacamole and queso. For my meal, I ordered the fajita burger which was excellent. Sombra is a wonderful addition to the town and brings great energy to the EG strip.

I drove 45 minutes to for my birthday tonight, excited to try their tacos and enjoy the atmosphere. Their Google listing clearly says they’re open until 1 a.m., so arriving around 9:30 p.m. should’ve been no issue.

Unfortunately, when I got there, the front door was locked—even though I could still see people inside being served. I asked a waitress through their bay window if they were open and she casually told me they were actually closing at 10 or 11 (she wasn’t sure which) and found the situation more amusing than helpful.

I can understand if hours change, but if you’re going to advertise late-night dining, update your hours online. No one wants to waste their time or gas, especially on a special occasion.

I was genuinely looking forward to trying the food, but after that experience, I won’t be returning—regardless of how good the reviews are.

I originally had a less than satisfactory experience at Sombra, which led me to leave a one-star review. However, the owner reached out to me personally and was incredibly sincere and commendable in addressing my concerns. He even offered a gift card to give the restaurant another try. I appreciate this gesture and the commitment to customer service. I will update my review once I visit again and try the food, but for now, I’m raising it to three stars for the owner’s effort and transparency.

My wife and I recently had the chance to revisit Sombra, and we’re really glad we gave it a second chance after having a bad experience the first time. The atmosphere was beautiful, with two bars and an open dining area. We started with the empanadas and guacamole—the guacamole was super fresh—and the margaritas were delicious, made with fresh purée. For our entrées, we had the chorizo and shrimp dish and the carne asada, both made with fresh ingredients and full of flavor. This visit completely changed our perspective, and we’ll definitely be back to try the tacos next time!

We had the recent pleasure of dining at Sombra and we loved it! From the decor (two bars, each with their own flavor – I like to think of them as winter and summer), great decor, welcoming ambiance, delicious food and attentive service – all was 5 stars! We especially enjoyed our server, Manata and the manager John. We will be back!

We loved the atmosphere of this restaurant! The design is so fun, and the drinks were absolutely delicious.

The wait staff was nice and attentive as well. Food is meant to be shared and more of a tapas style than order a full dish for yourself, but there are salads and a few dishes you can get for yourself. I went with a group and we most enjoyed the empanadas, guac flight and taquitos, however I will say, depending the appetite of your group, the bill does add up.

You definitely can get full on the tapas, and the dishes come out as they’re made (which was quick) so you can order more food if you didn’t eat enough and expect a pretty quick turnaround time. We were there a slower night so we put in two dishes, and ordered another two. I skipped lunch and was starving so we ordered a good amount and got to try a variety of items, which were all delicious! We loved sharing a little bit of everything! I have yet to try their brunch, but I certainly plan on doing so!

Sophisticated, yet laid back atmosphere. This is the perfect place to meet friends, take a date or grab a bite alone at the bar. We were lucky enough to grab a seat in a very packed house and found Lexy, our server to be enthusiastic, knowledgeable, in addition to her making some amazing drinks!! We started with the margarita sampler, which were very tasty. Then we explored some apps which and went to the steak! The steak dish was one of the best stakes we have had in a while. Cooked perfectly, with delicious toppings. We highly recommend and will be back!

We’ve been to Sambra several times and always enjoyed it. We made a reservation for January 23rd and arrived at @6:25.
Upon arriving we gave up our table and decided to sit at the bar. I pulled out the bar stool and when I tried to pull myself up into it, it collapsed and I almost fell down to the floor.
Gratefully, I was able to grab onto the bar before falling completely down, but got a little twisted up. One of the staff came over and took the stool away noting that it was missing a screw while telling me it was okay to move another stool over to sit in. Really?

We resettled ourselves and had some bites and cocktails before heading across the street to the Odeum.
When we asked for our tab, one of the night managers delivered it to us, apologizing for the issue with the stool and noting the restaurant was paying for our drinks. He also stated that the restaurant had recently had “issues with some of the furniture”.

We suggest that you check the seats before sitting down to make sure they are stable, and we suggest the restaurant retains copies of their video for January 23rd at around 6:25 p.m.

I’m so excited Sombra is finally open in EG! We went to the restaurant for lunch and I immediately fell in love with the ambiance. The two very large bars have ample seating and a view of the beautifully displayed cocktail offerings. We ordered the Elote Dip, Empanadas, Tacos (Pollo, Barbados & the Rum & Cola) and the Ensalada de Sandia. Everything had amazing flavor! Mitchel was our bartender, he made us amazing tequila cocktails to enjoy with our meal. I can’t wait to go back and try the other menu options!

Everything was fresh and authentic Mexican. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating. I wanted a cocktail with pineapple and our wait James asked mixologist to create something special.

I really wanted to like this Mexican restaurant, but the experience was disappointing from start to finish. The biggest letdown was the food itself—especially the tacos. Instead of the fresh toppings you’d expect, each taco came buried under a huge heap of coleslaw. Not a light garnish, not a creative twist—just an overwhelming, soggy pile that completely drowned out the flavor of the meat and tortillas. It felt more like a barbecue side dish dumped on top than anything remotely close to authentic Mexican cuisine.
The textures were all wrong, the flavors didn’t match, and the whole dish was barely edible. If you’re craving tacos, this is definitely not the place to find them. Maybe it’s very busy because the drink are good? Overall, the food was poor, the execution was strange, and nothing about the meal made me want to come back. Plenty of great Mexican spots around—save yourself the disappointment and try literally any of those instead. But if you go stick with drinks and maybe some chips and guacamole.
