The outdoor patio feels like a secret garden for people who appreciate good food and even better stories. I never suspected such a great outdoor place was available on Lincoln.
Prices are fair, portions are generous, and the staff make you feel like family — the kind that insists you eat more, and you happily do.
Pro tip: start with the pierogi, end with the plum vodka, and call your Uber before dessert.
Food: I truly love Eastern European foods and flavors. I’m spoiled in this department with having access to many great restaurants on the east coast, not to mention my partner is Polish. I was excited to try the food here during a work trip as it came highly recommended. I only had one option on the menu, which was a beet salad. Needless to say I was really disappointed this was the only option on the menu that was plant based. On a separate visit I was able to try their vegan stuffed cabbage (didn’t take a pic) and found the flavor to be underwhelming. The salad tasted good, but wasn’t filling as a meal and isn’t interesting culinarily (been there, done that). The stuffed cabbage tomato sauce was borderline bland and the filling was the same. Plant based doesn’t have to be flavorless and boring.
Service: Any time I’ve been to this restaurant the service has been good. Servers are friendly, seem to know the menu, and are quick to make sure everyone is taken care of. I prefer the outdoor patio in the back over the dining room. The interior to me feels very dated and a little musty.
Recommendation: I wouldn’t suggest for vegans to visit this spot when in Santa Monica. The options are very limited and need some fine tuning, in my opinion. I’d highly recommend the restaurant take the dedicated vegan items off the menu if they can’t improve the flavor of options like the stuffed cabbage.
Very yummy, beautiful outdoor area and inside is gorgeous and more formal. Something for everyone
The beef stroganoff was good, the meat was tender, and the mushroom sauce had a nice flavor. I also tried spätzle for the first time. It felt like compressed pasta, and it goes with the sauce very well, which made it a great match with the beef. The pierogies were pretty good – crispy, flavorful, and really satisfying. The sausage was also nicely done, perfectly grilled with a good texture and flavor.
Overall, the food was enjoyable, but nothing really stood out as amazing. It didn’t quite feel like restaurant type food, more like something you might get at a diner in Europe. Don’t get me wrong, still it was tasty and worth trying.
The restaurant itself is cozy with plenty of tables and a nice outdoor seating area. I didn’t go inside, but from the window, the interior looked nice. The staff was friendly, and the food came out quickly.
If you go, I would definitely recommend trying the pierogies. The beef stroganoff was okay, but not something I would strongly recommend. Overall, it’s a nice place and worth checking out, especially if you have never tried Polish food before.
