Loved the authentic food and atmosphere. Huge portions with affordable pricing. This place is now my favourite spot for family lunch.

Fresh, flavorful, and affordable. The decor is dated but colorful, and the service, while a bit slow, reflects the care in preparation—our tomatoes were freshly cut to order. Portions are flexible; they added extra beans when we skipped the rice. A solid choice for a casual, unpretentious meal.

I hardly ever write reviews, but this place was so bad I need to. Food was terrible, like i feel like if i actually ate my meal, i would get food poisoning. The chips were stale and the salsa tasted more like a bowl of chili. The chicken quesedilla looked like a 4 year old threw cheese on a tortilla and microwaved it. The chicken on the tostada was barely edible. The rice had zero flavor and looked like boil-in-a-bag. I ate 2 bites and had to leave to get food elsewhere. I would hate to see what the kitchen actually looks like as it didn’t look maintained at all. Maybe the place used to be good, but if it was, it went downhill. 0/10, would not recommend.

Don’t let anything fool you, this place is awesome. The food is super good and portions were great, and the service was excellent too! We were given a free dessert of Sopapillas when paying too:)

Been driving by this place for a few years and finally decided to give it a try. Ordered los dos enamorados (carne asada and bacon wrapped shrimp). It was good, and more or less what I would expect at a Mexican restaurant in the Pacific Northwest. It was enough food for two especially with the chips and salsa. Was bummed that they didn’t make the corn tortillas from scratch but they were still decent. Salsa and chips were good. We also got the flan and that was good. The place is a little rough, booths in rough shape and windows with some holes, but sort of makes it feel like Mexico. The service was great, fast and friendly. We were the only ones in the restaurant.

Happy to have stumbled across SdM – excellent, almost home-cooked food, and apparently bottomless chips and salsa (I especially appreciated the salsa). Daily lunch specials. Off-menu drinks apparently available – I asked for horchata and got it. Am only visiting, but I would definitely return were I living in Bellingham.

The portions are huge and the atmosphere is very fun and casual. The food was pretty good, but they messed up our order and the service wasn’t perfect. Still a great place to eat nonetheless! There’s a lot of unique foods and drinks on the menu so I’d recommend trying something new!

We are very impressed with the high quality meal we received here, and the very obvious care and compassion they took in their packaging techniques in order to prevent spillage and keep food warm. We ordered Tacos al Carbon and Carne Asada and they were both just as fresh at home as they would be in the restaurant!
Highly recommend this place for fast, quality, authentic, take home (or sit down) Mexican cuisine.

Came in here last night with my husband, everything was delicious, the portions were way bigger than I thought they would of been. The waitress we got was very attentive and friendly! We will definitely be stopping by again.

Mmm. If you have travelled in Mexico, and loved the tastes found in off the beaten path local restaurants, family owned and run Sol De Azteca is the place! Non-greasy refried beans. Light and tasty rice. The hubby loves the Carne Asada here. We bring our grown kids and their families here every summer. Not West Coast trendy, the decor is hand painted and lovingly made. One of our favorite go-tos every time we are in Bellingham.
