Visited here with my fiancee and friends on a whim as a Puerto Rican transplant to Hagerstown.

I grew up eating cuchifrito from La Isla back in NY and my family’s own home cooking. Having moved away from home it scratched an itch and satisfied an onset of homesickness.

We started with apps and the Alcapurria, Empanadilla, Queso Frito and Rellenos de Papas were all fantastic, I had no complaints about any of the apps.

We split one of the Mar y Tierra mofongo between me and my fiancee and paired that with the garlic queso, usually me and my fiancee are the type to bring some food back but that mofongo did not survive.

A friend had ordered the carne frita and if I had any complaint at all, I just wish it were a little more aggressively seasoned but that’s just my preference. The cook was perfect and the bite I tried was just the right amount of fatty and juicy.

The desserts were all to die for, the tres leche was soaked just right and not swimming or mealy, the almendra was similarly just right and the flan was decadent with both the custard and caramel being able to stand up to one another without overpowering one aspect.

If you’ve a craving for Hispanic food and want to try something other than Mexican, sofrito was absolutely a treat and we’d all recommend it wholeheartedly.

The food is so good here. We had the sampler appetizer so we could try a little bit of most of the items in the menu. It did not disappoint..we also had an order of bacalaito frito and arroz con gandules. Everything taste just like the food from the island. The decore is nice and welcoming with salsa music playing in the background. Hope to be back soon to try other items on the menu.

My boyfriend and I ate here for our anniversary a couple weeks ago and I meant to write a review.
We had the fried cheese appetizer, churrasco and fried egg, fried pork and rice entrees. Rice was delicious. Every single dish was seasoned, hot, cooked to perfection and visually beautiful. Almost every bar serves drinks with stone dry limes, and even my mojito was delicious and had a juicy lime. We pretty much finished everything so we literally had no room for dessert. Easily the best food we’ve eaten since moving to Hagerstown, We are absolutely dreaming of coming back. A little on the pricey side but for the quality of food and service it is 100% worth it. The staff was nice and timely. Restaurant was somewhat empty when we visited and they walked us around to check the place out. Very warm and vibrant. My step dad is from Puerto Rico, but his food does not hold a candle to this place!!!! 10/10 all around- that kitchen knows what they’re doing, and I’ve worked at some nice restaurants… New favorite restaurant altogether (: great job

I came here last night with my (Puerto Rican) partner and some friends. We each ordered/shared separate appetizers, entrees, and desserts, so we had a good variety.

We all LOVED the empanadillas and alcapurrias. The queso frito was also delicious, especially the rich guava sauce. The stuffed potatoes were yummy, but didn’t shine as much as the seasoning/flavors of our other apps.

We all also fawned over the churrasco. Definitely the overall favorite. The runner-up was the mofongo, which we had with more skirt steak and shrimp. The carne frita-encebollada was a little bit dry, but still had great flavor.

We were so stuffed we could barely nibble our desserts. The leftover flan, tres leches, and almendra made great breakfasts though.

My only disappointment was that it was so empty! I thought 6:30 on a Saturday would be crowded, but we were the only patrons present for over an hour. Definitely deserves more hype! I have a homesick Puerto Rican at home that needs this place to stay open

I’m Puerto Rican and it’s nowhere close to satisfying. If you’re not a native, it still won’t be satisfying. Goya products from the store. Taste better even the arroz con Gandules Goya box taste better. No flavor and mushy meat The only thing that tastes good was the water.

Overpriced food. The mofongo is good but the quality has decreased immensely overtime. The quantity is horrendous. I used to order weekly and notice the quality of the food going down. I understand that prices are going up everywhere but why cut the portions. I ordered online a mofongo filled with pork chunks. I received 6 small pieces. It was the saddest plate I have ever seen in my life for $30. I spent over $80 for a romantic meal delivered to my house but the portions were extremely poor. Never again I’m ordering.

The food was excellent. Definitely authentic! Just wished the passion fruit drink that I purchased matched the quality of the food.

Very nice atmosphere and location. The items in the sampler were delicious, perfectly portioned, and authentically flavorful. The alcapuria was my top favorite. The waiter was pleasant, polite, and friendly.

The food was excellent! Had a tough time choosing since there were so many options on the menu. Save room for the flan! Arrianna provided wonderful service and was patient with our questions. So glad we stopped in after seeing the article in Hagerstown magazine. Can’t wait to go back and try another delicious meal. Great food, lots of flavor and freshly made, clean and pleasant atmosphere, and plenty of parking! Highly recommend that you check this place out!

I came in expecting a cheap imitation or some kind of fusion concept. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case.

The arroz con gandules instantly brought back memories of family gatherings. The pernil was incredibly tender, and the cuerito had the perfect crunch. The bistec encebollado reminded me of my Abuelita’s cooking. Even the side salad was fresh and well-balanced. Can’t praise it enough.

The atmosphere added to the experience too. The music was enjoyable, and the photos on the wall gave the space an immersive vibe.

Highly recommend.
